Living BoldlyAge: Under 18Gender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5Great Encouragement For Raising GirlsSeptember 5, 2017Living BoldlyAge: Under 18Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5
She Is Yours is a beautifully written book of wisdom and encouragement. It reminds us that we can fully trust God in the raising of our girls, because they are His. God is our partner in parenting. She Is Yours is full of practical advice for raising girls to become happy, balanced, well adjusted adults. She Is Yours is written by husband and wife, Jonathan and Wynter Pitts. They are the proud parents of four daughters and they are Christians, so the advice they give in She Is Yours is from their own experience, and is biblically sound.
Raising children can be challenging. However, raising girls presents its own unique set of challenges. She Is Yours includes nineteen chapters, divided into three parts: her relationship with God, her relationship with her parents (or those in the parenting role), and her relationship with the world around her.
Each chapter discusses areas that are important in every girl's life. Included are scriptures, truths to apply, practical tips and advice; and most importantly, prayers to pray for and with your girl(s). Whether she is an infant, a preschooler, a teen or young adult, readers will find a wealth of insights for raising their girl to be a wonderful woman of God, one who will be filled with kindness and love.
I highly recommend She Is Yours. It's a fantastic book and definitely one to share. Because we know that as we trust God with our girls, we are not alone in raising them. God is right there with us.

AmyL4 Stars Out Of 5She Is YoursSeptember 7, 2017AmyLQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4Rather than focusing on all the things you could do to try and ensure you raise your daughter right, Wynter and Jonathan Pitts focus on praying for their daughters. Since they are currently raising four girls of their own, they have definitely had some practice in handing their daughters over to God and His plan. Throughout She Is Yours, they constantly reminded me that even though God placed Sarabeth as a gift in my life, she ultimately belongs to Him. And that I should be handing her back to Him on a regular basis.
It was a startling reminder to me to see within the pages of She is Yours that it is my relationship with God that will speak the loudest to my daughter. It shouldn't have surprised me, considering how often I hear "actions speak louder than words." But it was a shock to see that written across the pages of the book.
I've considered before that the way I live my life as an example for Sarabeth. But I've lately, especially since finishing She Is Yours, been feeling convicted of the fact that Sarabeth doesn't often see me having quiet time. Or even working out. Granted, it's a lot harder to do a workout when you have a toddler who wants to get involved, but it's important for Sarabeth to see. So, lately, if I sleep in and miss my early morning quiet time, I try to let Sarabeth still see me model getting that time in rather than pushing it off until nap time. It's such a difference in perspective for me.
Finishing this book also has paused me to ponder what it would look like to help Sarabeth enter into a little bit of Bible study too. We've amassed a collection of books that share the stories of the Bible, and several children's bibles as well. Now is the time to help Sarabeth learn to love to read these stories over and over again. To invite her into the story and let her tell me what she learns. She picks up more than I think.
One of my favorite parts of She is Yours is the prayers at the end of the chapters. Each one helps us point our hearts and thoughts toward handing our daughters back over to God. To remember that each daughter is ultimately his. And He cares even more than we do.
I received a copy of the book from the publisher. This review is my own, honest opinion.
