Publisher's Description

Owen Christiansen has been in a downward spiral since an injury ended his NHL career. But a job on an Alaskan crabbing boat offers a fresh start . . . maybe even a shot at romance with Elise “Scotty” McFlynn, the captain’s daughter.

Used to being one of the guys, to never relying on anyone, Scotty doesn’t believe in happily ever after—especially with someone like Owen. Her instinct is confirmed when Casper Christiansen arrives to drag his prodigal brother home, bringing with him a truckload of family drama—and even worse, the news that Casper is wanted for questioning in connection to a crime back in Minnesota.

But Owen is more than the sum of his mistakes, a truth both he and Scotty discover when she escorts both brothers to Deep Haven as part of her new job on the Anchorage police force. Thrust into an unfamiliar world of family, faith, and fresh starts, Scotty begins to see potential for a happy ending . . . if she’s brave enough to embrace it.

I dont even know where to begin in reviewing this fantastic book From start to finish, I was caught hook, line, and sinker. What I like best about Susan May Warrens books are the depth of emotions, love, loyalty, faith and family dynamics that make the characters jump off the page. They seem so real (I secretly want to be a part of the Christiansen clan!).

Oh, Owen! Watching him struggle to accept that grace that God has given him so freely through the book is so hard! I just wanted to hug him. Warren did an amazing job showing us how complicated and messy his life was, giving us glimpses of the old and new Owen. Then theres Scotty. Boy, she is one complicated woman! But her fierce loyalty to Owen is exactly whats needed to begin an awesome romance.

Im so glad that Owens story was last. I dont think Susan May Warren could have ended an amazing series any better (but I really hope this isnt the end!). She brought the prodigal home, restored the family relationships that were broken, and most importantly taught each character about embracing their past, their faith, and putting their trust in God. I loved this series and would highly recommend it to anyone!

The last Christiansen novel! (she gasps, heaving a shuddering sigh). And I might have the hiccoughs from a recent crying jag too. Because my poor heart has been pummeled and tossed around like a piece of flying pizza dough. Because...well...this is the last Christiansen novel and it`s a gut-wrenching one.

Warren knows how to deliver deep emotional angst mixed with the sweet wonder of grace. I breathed in every single word, savoring the force that is the Christiansen family. Scotty describes the sensation the best -- "The family wave had simply washed over her, like a ship at sea." (p.175)

If you are familiar with this series you know that Owen has been a bit of a wild child and he is struggling to cope with the repercussions of his mistakes. A bad boy who has finally turned back to God but doesn`t have it all figured out yet. He`s still incorrigible. A flirt. Full of boyish charm. Impulsive.

Everything Scotty is not. Tough and capable, she has an unorthodox background and very little experience with the inner workings of a family. She`s both fascinated and terrified by the Christiansen clan. And Warren blesses her readers by bringing them all together one last time. Sniffle. These characters will have a special place in my heart forever.

I laughed. I cried. I raged. There`s a mystery to be solved. Relationships to mend. Peace to restore. And the kind of romance that curls toes and makes a fainting couch a reading necessity. Not to mention a certain delectable kissing scene that fogged up my glasses. Oh -- and the best title tie-in EVER!

A scrumptious read full of love and laughter...and an abundance of angst. A perfect conclusion to The Christiansen Family series.

Former hockey player Owen Christiansen works on a fishing boat and is interested in the captain's daughter, Scotty. When the two get an opportunity to visit Owen's family in Minnesota and solve a crime, Scotty falls in love with not only Owen, but his large family was well. I thought this book was very good, and a nice conclusion to the series.

Once again Susan May Warren takes into the lives of the Christiansen clan. The loving, messed up, Bible-believing, squabbling family from Deep Haven, Minnesota. And once again we are reminded of what a messy beautiful thing life can be.

I wasn't sure if I'd really get into You're The One That I Want, honestly, Owen has been my least favorite of the Christiansen siblings, but I've been sold on this series since the beginning so I picked it up without even seeing that it is partly set in Alaska. Now, when it comes to locations in books you pretty much have me sold on anyplace in Ireland or Alaska. So what better way to start a story than with the dangers of life on a crab boat in the icy waters of Alaska?

And you know, it didn't take me long to be totally immersed in Owen and Scotty's story. In fact, I finished this 340+ page book in a single afternoon. Every time I read one of Susan May Warren's books I find a little bit of myself in the characters, You're The One That I Want was no exception. This author has a real knack for understanding people and accurately portraying them on the printed page.

You're The One That I Want is another winner in Susan May Warren's Christiansen Family series, I'm only sorry to have to say goodbye to them...

(I received a copy of this book from Tyndale in exchange for my review. All opinions are my own.)
