How can a book written 2000 years ago help a teen guy to deal with today’s issues?
Though the times have changed, the problems haven’t. Temptation. Peer pressure. Acceptance. Increased responsibilities. Getting along with parents. Friends. And girls.
God wants to helpand that’s why He wrote the Bible. You can learn a lot from the people in it, as well as the adventures they experienced. You’ll be surprised how relevant the Bible is!
God’s Word can change your lifefor real. But that can’t happen until you commit yourself to knowing the Bible.
That’s what this book is all aboutknowing the Bible, discovering what it says, and making it your personal guide in all you do. Along the way, bestselling author Jim George offers many great ideas for Bible study and practical application.
You’ll find this the beginning of an incredible adventureone you’ll never get tired of!
Jim George and his wife, Elizabeth George, are Christian authors and speakers. Jim, author of A Husband After Gods Own Heart (a Gold Medallion finalist) and The Bare Bones Bible® Handbook, has MDiv and ThM degrees from Talbot Theological Seminary. He has served in various pastoral roles for 25 years and on The Masters Seminary staff for ten years. Jim and Elizabeth have two married daughters and are grandparents.
Jen PenMidwest5 Stars Out Of 5Wonderful guide to the Bible for a young man...November 14, 2014Jen PenMidwestQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4SUMMARY:
While helping a young man to discover his Bible, author Jim George also offers explanations, thought provoking questions, relevant workbook pages and encouragement to live accordingly. Teaching young men to not fear the Bible but instead to embrace the adventure it can be, A Young Mans Guide to Discovering His Bible also helps preteens and teens to view the Bible as authoritative yet friendly. Through God Word on peer pressure, dating, responsibility, temptation and friends, this book may lead to so much more
A PENNY FOR MY THOUGHTS:
Definitely user-friendly, this book leads a young man to uncover Gods Word and instruction within the Bible. Using age-appropriate stories, examples and explanations, Jim George does a nice job of relating to a young man at a level he will understand. Though fill-in-the-blank pages are provided as guides, they in no way are intimidating nor considered a chore as they relate nicely to the topics covered. I appreciated the relationship between the timelines (past people/ issues with todays people/ issues) which are in many ways similar. A wonderful gift for a young mans Graduation or Confirmation, it might also work well with Youth Groups or in a homeschool setting.
