My copy of Carmen's book is dog-eared, underlined, highlighted and battered. I go back to it time after time for fresh ideas, as my first novel has just been issued and I need all the promotional tools I can get. Though some reviewers felt this book is "only for the self-published," they're wrong. These days, traditional publishers leave a LOT of the promotion up to the author. Don't fool yourself -- you'll need this stuff! In addition, there are so many great marketing ideas in the book and they can be used to make your next book proposal to a publisher really shine. They want authors who are willing to promote and who have concrete ideas how to do so. It could mean the difference between a contract and just another piece of wallpaper for your Rejection wall. I highly recommend it.

Carmen Leal's newest endeavor is full of practical, cost-effective and creative ways to get the word out about your creation. I was inspired and encouraged by her no-nonsense approach to everything from radio and television promotion to websites and article writing. Marketing Your Book was refreshingly candid, while being optimistic and positive about the increasingly difficult task of book promotion. Four stars, Carmen. Well done!

Ask any author and they'll tell you: writing the book is only a third of the work. Marketing the book is the other 2/3's. As scary as writing can be, marketing is like looking into an abyss. The ideas are endless, but the disasterous results are just as endless. Carmen Leal has taken the fear and guess work out of the giving us an easy to read, easy to follow format for making the most of our work. By using the plotline of Lilies of the Field, the writer/reader sees the simplicity and joy of a "job well done!"
