Mrs ARS4 Stars Out Of 5Enjoyable storySeptember 17, 2019Mrs ARSQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5If only people would sit down and just talk to each other. Why is that so hard to do? I despaired the love life of these characters when no one would be forthcoming and sharing their deepest desires and secrets.
Hannah and Luke, and Hannah's brother Thomas and her best friend Janie were our main characters in a town that was slowly dying. Hannah is a real estate agent who is trying to preserve her town from big shopping malls and she has the guts and heart to do it. Yet it did seem that no one shared her vision.
There is a lot of past family drama that plays important roles in each of these characters lives. I have to say that I was very surprised at some of the secrets that were coming to light with one character's family. So not only are they living with present day challenges, but past mistakes are seeping into their lives as well.
We have two romances here. Both were at times hard to watch and I wanted to shake all of them. Especially when some of the their life changing decisions just seemed so wrong. The author certainly makes them work for their happy ending I will tell you that.
I enjoyed this novel from author Faris and I am glad there is more to come. I received a copy of this novel from the publisher. I was not required to post a positive review and all views and opinions are my own.

Restoring Heritage #1
By Tari Faris
Hannah Thornton doesn't want to let her hometown die nor does she want to see it "upgraded" with a strip mall. But she's just not sure how to convince the rest of the town to see her vision for Heritage - a name that deserves a town worthy of it with links to its heritage. And she is determined to make up for the misdeeds of her mother all those years ago. There is just one problem no one seems to appreciate Hannah's effort to fix things. Not her brother, Thomas nor Luke her best friend that she's crushed on like forever.
Unfortunately for Hannah, her services as a realtor are suffering because she tries to steer her sellers away from buyers who only see progress and razed houses in Heritage's future. But when she learns about a restoration grant that could restore her beloved town to what it once was she is all in. She just needs to come up with a plan that the town council is willing to agree to. And then there is a small matter of raising $10,000 to foot the bill for the required good faith gesture of proving that Heritage is willing to do what it takes to renew itself.
With the help of her friends and her brother's fiancee (who btw is just WRONG for Thomas) a plan to raise funds is put into action. A bachelor auction is the perfect draw to the town's festival sure to bring in a lot of out-of-towners with deep wallets. She has it all planned out. Except Luke refuses to put his name on the list, but what's a girl to do to get her favorite guy's name on the auction block?
Luke Johnson has always felt as if he just didn't belong in Heritage, Michigan. Yeah, being a foster kid since he was 5 years old had a big part in this feeling. And the fact he never got adopted was another. But the biggest issue he has is that Hannah seems to think of him as one of her projects - some stray dog to be pitied and he isn't going to go along with a Luke makeover. But somehow Hannah hasn't gotten the message and left him for someone better.
You Belong With Me is the first book in the Restoring Heritage series and it seems off to a good start. The Thornton family which at present consists of Hannah and Thomas is struggling with the sins of their family which in the long run is having an effect on their present and potentially their futures if they can't see what is going on. This book falls into the contemporary romance genre but there is more to it. There is a bit of mystery surrounding Luke and his past which in the end plays a big role in the path this book takes and its ultimate conclusion. Ultimately this is a story family, community, and finding your place in it. And a word of advice talk - don't let old hurts, fears, and regrets stand in the way of words that need to be said.
I was provided a complimentary copy of this book by the publisher with no expectations but that I provide my honest opinion. All thoughts expressed are my own.
Deana4 Stars Out Of 5Nice Debut BookSeptember 16, 2019DeanaQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I love reading debut books by an author. It is exciting to see how their writing is and get familiar with their style. In this story we are taken into a small town set in Michigan. The people are friendly and seem to help each other out. Hannah is a nice character that hasn't had the best life growing up. She has always wanted to belong somewhere and to feel the love of a family.
The author has written a story that is emotional and filled with great characters. We all want to belong somewhere and that is at the heart of this book. Luke is another example of overcoming his upbringing in foster care to a man who desires to have a family. There is some background on each character that is just below the surface which the author explores over the course of the story.
I loved the love triangle and thought it was written with realism. I know who I am rooting for and couldn't read fast enough to find out what happens. This is the kind of story you can get lost in and forget everything around you. I became invested in the characters and loved how real they seemed. Get ready for a surprise in the story that will make you say, "Oh my"
I am glad that I have a new author to read and look forward to the next book she writes. This book may be her debut but her writing skills far surpass many authors that have been writing for awhile. Get ready for an adventure filled with family, faith and hard decisions.
I received a copy of this book from the Early Reviewers Program from LibraryThing. The review is my own opinion.
Melissa4 Stars Out Of 5Love the small town feelSeptember 15, 2019MelissaQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4This story reminded me a lot of a Hallmark movie, but with more depth. Trying to save a town, two people fighting their feelings for each other. I really liked how the town was an important part of the story, and it takes place in Michigan, my home state!!
I also loved that Genesis 5020 is referenced in this book.
I was a bit frustrated with our two main characters and just wanted them to admit their feelings but of course if that happened too soon there would have been no story. So I was excited to see how these two would finally find each other.
There is also a second couple in this book and that broke that story up nicely.
I good contemporary romance, I am anxious to see what Tari comes up with next.
A copy of this book is given to me. All opinions are my own.
Bekah5 Stars Out Of 5Tari Faris took a story full of broken people and turned it into a beautiful tale of redemption, faith, and love.September 14, 2019BekahQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Tari Faris took a story full of broken people and turned it into a beautiful tale of redemption, faith, and love.
I loved reading about these characters' as they went on a journey to discover being broken is not as much of a flaw as they thought, but actually, quite beautiful.
My heart went out to Hannah and Luke so much as we discovered the pasts they've worked so hard to not let define them.
They both chastised others' for seeing only their pasts, but when they looked in the mirror, that was all they could see.
I related so much to Hannah's story and especially to Luke's struggle to realize his worth.
Hannah's pain from the past that seemed like a constant cloud hovering over her life broke me and touched me.
These were very beautiful, very broken characters who allowed God to remake their stories into something incredible.
The faith threaded throughout every aspect of the story was very wonderful and encouraging.
There were many life lessons we can all be encouraged by.
Through many ups and downs, there was two things constant, and that was God and good writing.
Faris' writing was simple yet eloquent and full of humor and swoony sweet moments.
I would recommend this book to everyone!
