The Yellow Roses Boxed Set Group Study was designed for girls to be able to discuss the themes of the documentary film more in depth and to provide schools, churches, youth organizations and support & recovery groups an 8 week curriculum. Chapter titles for the 8 week study are:
Week 1: Yellow Roses: Real girls. Real life. Real hope. (watching of the film)
Week 2: Too Much Pressure!
Week 3: Airbrushed Illusions
Week 4: Longing For Love
Week 5: Sticks and Stones Can Break My Bones, But Words Can Destroy Me
Week 6: Peer Pressure Pushover?
Week 7: Was It My Fault?
Week 8: The Future You Hope For
Each week of the Yellow Roses study, the group session format includes the same six components:
REAL LIFE - A compelling story introduces the week's theme, followed by several questions participants may respond to in the book and briefly discuss.
REAL ISSUES - A video segment engages participants in the key concepts for the week.
REAL QUESTIONS - Approximately 6-12 questions help participants explore the themes of the video in greater detail.
KEEPING IT REAL - An exercise that helps group members to process what they've learned and make application.
REAL HOPE - Prayer suggestions.
REALITY CHECK - A tear-out sheet of truth that will help with application throughout the week.
Why the Name Yellow Roses?▼▲
WHY YELLOW ROSES?
Today, the Yellow Rose symbolizes many things; joy freedom, friendship and new beginnings.
When the project first began, the original story, written by Steve Feazel was called "Priceless Value". But during the filming of the documentary, the film's director, Mike Edwards, brought a song to Steve for him to listen to. It was called, "Yellow Roses". Steve started doing research and found that the meaning of the Yellow Rose perfectly fit the key messages of not only the film, but the entire "Yellow Roses" project. As a result of the song, and the further discovery of the flower's meaning, the project's name was changed to "Yellow Roses".
We hope that young women around the world will experience the joy, freedom and new beginnings type of love that God can bring and how valuable they are.
About Yellow Roses▼▲
Starting with a desire to make a documentary film showcasing true-life stories of teen girls...and inspired by his own daughter...Emmy-Award winning filmmaker, Mike Edwards, took his camera and traveled the United States. And what he found were stories that made him laugh. Stories that made him cry. And stories that he wished people would know about their daughters.
Since that time, this award-winning film has been shown at the United Nations, screened at film festivals, broadcast on television, endorsed by national and international faith-based organizations like the Salvation Army, The Catholic Diocese, Focus on the Family and many others. And best of all, it has reconnected moms and dads with their daughters.
Themes that are dealt with in the film are:

Youth Leader3 Stars Out Of 5Relevant Topics w/unconventional Biblical SourcesAugust 4, 2013Youth LeaderQuality: 3Value: 3Meets Expectations: 3I recently purchased the combo pack that includes the documentary, the leaders guide, group study DVD, as well as a music CD. I also purchased one student workbook. I'm planning on having my first girls group tonight and had to pare down the lesson (too wordy), and eliminate the 60min documentary. I'm just showing the small group video (5 min.). Overall, I would say the key topics - pressure, relationships, body image, and peer pressure, are all current issues girls face today, but a lot of the book material has to be simplified in order to keep the lesson under 2 hrs. The main negative for me was the use of the MSG (Message) and the NCV (New Century Version) bibles, throughout the text. While the NIV is mentioned sparingly, the two non-conventional bibles were mainly used. They are both christian based bibles, but written by pastors, etc...and are not based in 100% truth. These bibles paraphrase/re-interpret the Holy Bible incorrectly. While I would recommend the overall Yellow Roses study, you'll want to change all the bible references to something accurate like NIV or KJV. My opinion on the 60 min. documentary is it's too long, and not engaging enough to command a young persons attention for that long.
krazyYouthMinistaAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5this will change your girls lifeNovember 28, 2012krazyYouthMinistaAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Im a youth minister of what I would call a small to medium size group. This year our high school group shift into a heavy boy driven group leaving me with fewer girls. I realize the need and importance of creating a space safe just for my girls. This bible study is great, it targets girls of all ages and walks in life, I didnt want to do a "true love can wait" type study because I think that relationship today go further than that. Today our girls are expose to not just sex but abusive relationships that are mental and phsycal, as well as the hype that media creates about self image and bullying. This bible study will make your girls talk, make sure that you are ready to lisent and offer a "safe space" to talk.
i set this bible study as a "tea party" and we have cookies, snack and tea and do the bible study...Each week we talk more than the time allowed :) My girls and I have grown closer, and we are talking about the importance that they are made beautiful and not to let the comments , tweets, post or gossip about them became their reality!
As a youth minister I would recommend this to any church no matter your denomination or size of the group...Thank you Yellow roses!
Ask a Question▼▲
Q: I am needing to know exactly what is included in this package. Are there books for the girls who are attending or are they available seperately. P Please let me know exactly what is included.
This DVD curriculum package includes two DVDs (Documentary film and Bible Study DVD), a music CD and a Leader's Guide. Each girl would need the Yellow Roses Workbook, CBD stock #WW911656, which can be purchased separately.
Q: Will it be suitable for a small conservative church, to encourage newly converted teen girls to live for Christ.
This study is broadly evangelical in scope and is meant for a wide range of young female audiences. Suitability will be entirely dependent on the culture of the church.
