Writing Strands: Intermediate 1 is part of the revised Writing Strands series; this volume combines Reading Strands with Writing Strands Level 4 from the prior edition of this curriculum. It's perfect for students who have a basic understanding of how to organize ideas, transition between paragraphs, and use complex sentences.
This resource covers 180 days of instruction and includes a weekly lesson schedule, student worksheets, and an answer key for the objective questions in the reading lesson portion.
Each week alternates between writing lessons and reading lessons; for their reading, students will read biblical passages as well as books chosen and assigned by the parent. The Bible is now used as the literature base for teaching how narrative voice can be used to form captivating pieces of literature.
This comprehensive approach will help students explore the art of writing and discover how to structure a story, utilize topic sentences, organize information, craft written descriptions, explore voice and character position, and so much more! Students will:
- Connect and organize thoughts, ideas, sentences, and paragraphs
- Summarize a story
- Explore the narrative voice and the way in which it speaks to the reader
- Create visual written descriptions
- Use past tense, present tense, and future tense correctly
