Would You Like to Know? Collection

By Tim Dowley and Graham Jefferson

I really like small book collections for children. Theres just something special about them. This one I found extraordinary. This group includes 6 books:

Would you like to know about God?

Would you like to know Jesus?

Would you like to know the Bible?

Would you like to know how to Pray?

Would you like to know the story of Christmas?

Would you like to know the story of Easter?

This collection covers the basic doctrinal foundations of Christianity. It is hard to express how impressed I was with how the authors very simply and clearly stated the most important truths. In the books about prayer and the Bible, they did a beautiful job of introducing how to apply and practice spiritual disciplines. All were written where a child could easily understand the concepts. The illustrations are colorful and not busy. Through them a little one could understand what was written even more plainly.

Each book is just the size for little hands, sturdy, and printed on glossy paper. The come in nice strong slip cover.

I only found one item concerning. In the book Would you like to know Jesus, the plan of salvation is shared. That was fine. It was the way the prayer to accept Christ was presented. This is a serious step and must be fully understood. I felt the idea was conveyed that you just pray a prayer and you are saved. This is misleading, as they need to know why they are praying this prayer. Children are easily led and must be dealt with delicately in this area.

Other than that I found the books to be exceptional in every way. These would make a great gift.

I was provided a review copy of this book set by Kregel Publications, with no expectation of a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Ive been taking my children to church since they were born. Theyve been learning about God, Jesus and the Bible for as long as they can remember. The have heard the story of the Nativity and Easter each year, and love to hear them over and over again. The lessons started off simple and now as they are getting older, they are asking more and more questions. The Would you like to know? Collection is a great way for my children to explore their faith on their own time.

Would you like to know? Collection is a set of six books for children to help build their Christian faith. Each book will encourage your childto explore key concepts of the Christian faith, such as who God is and How to pray in a way that they can understand.

    The boxed set contains:

Would You Like to Know About God? This book begins with an introduction to God and continues to answer questions that children have about God like What does God Look Like? and What does God do?. It ends with the assurance that God loves us and his love will never change.

Would You Like to Know How to Pray? This book explains why we pray and how we can start talking to God. There is a sample prayer at the end the helps guide your child in a simple prayer.

Would You Like to Know Jesus? This books explainswho Jesus is, whyhe is importantand how we can come to know him as a friend. It shares a Bible verse that is familiar to many of us, John 3: 16.

Would You Like to Know the Bible? This book tells us what the Bible is, what it consists of and how we should use it.

Would You Like to Know the Story of Christmas? This book is a simple retelling of the very firstChristmas and what it means for us today.

Would You Like to Know the Story of Easter? This is a simple retelling of the Easter story from Jesus entering the city of Jerusalem, dying on the cross and rising again.

The illustrations in each are colourful and remind me of the books I used to read in Sunday School as a child. Each book includes a presentation page which makes it perfect for giving as a gift or an award.

Our least favourite book is the Would you like to know The Story of Easter? , we found that it wasnt as clear as it could be. The book does tell the story of Easter and how Christ rose from the dead, but we found that the last couple of pages could have used a little more detail. It says At Easter we remember that Jesus diedand that he is alive forever! We feel that this brief summary is missing the detail that he rose from the grave.

Our favourite book is Would you like to know How to Pray?. Sometimes my children get stuck on where to begin when they start to pray. The sample prayer at the end of the book helps them begin their prayer and then finish using their own words. I love how open ended it is, and listening to how my children talk to God and hear what is on their hearts.

Would you like to know? Collection would make a wonderful addition to any childs library. Matthew 13: 23 says But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. This collection of books helps sew the seeds of Gods word in your childs heart.

I received a complimentary copy ofWould you like to know? Collectionfrom Kregel Publishing in exchange for my review. All opinions are 100% my own.

first memorized John 3:16 at a young age, when I found it on the back of a little book on my bookshelf. Still a beginning reader, I was wondering why the drawings of children on the front cover were asking Jesus? After asking to have it read to me I realized that they werent confused about the name Jesus, they were asking me, Would you like to know Jesus? The pages that followed explained Jesus role in our lives that any age can understand. It even included an example prayer. And it ended with the famous verse, explaining that learning this verse is a good starting point to learn more about Jesus.

Would You Like to Know Jesus? faded from my memory until a couple months ago, when I read that there was a Would You Like to Know? Collection releasing soon. The first books title caught my attention. Could it really be that booklet that encouraged me to learn John 3:16 so many years ago?

Not only was this life-changing childrens book getting updated and republished, I was impressed that it had now turned into a whole series. Not only are you invited to know Jesus, but know you can know the Bible, God, the story of Easter, the story of Christmas, and how to pray.

These truths apply to anyone of any age. While you could benefit from these easy-to-understand short books, I especially like how theyre compact and can easily be carried around in their little box set. That makes it easy to take along to babysitting gigs, family reunions, and childrens Sunday school classes you can volunteer to read at.

I received a copy of these books in exchange for an honest review.

This is a great boxed set of short stories for pre-school kids. The language is easy to understand for them, it doesn't go into a lot of details, and the illustrations are colorful enough to grasp their attention. For these reasons, I think this is a great addition to any Sunday school classroom.

However, I would like to say that I don't believe these would stand up very well to handling by younger hands. Yes, the pages are thicker than normal pages, and the books are presented in a wonderful glossy boxed set. I still don't think they are sturdy enough to handle the rough treatment that some kids can give them.

The Would You Like to Know? series is a collection of books written to explain to children in the simplest terms about God, Jesus, prayer, Christmas, Easter, and the Bible. All six books come in a sturdy card board box and the books themselves are small enough for little hands. The books are paperbacks but made from sturdy stock. The pictures are bright, colorful, and simple as to not overwhelm and also correspond with the message being delivered. The message inside is short and concise yet packs a powerful punch in what is being taught. I would recommend this box set for parents to read to toddlers as they are easy to hold and not very long so as to lose their attention. I have a six year old and these books are just short enough to help him with his reading comprehension. Overall, I am impressed with the quality of these little books and I recommend them wholeheartedly. They would make nice Easter basket gifts or even Christmas stocking stuffers. They are also a nice addition to a homeschool or family devotional time. It is never too early to teach our kids the truth of the Bible and of God.

I received a set of these books for free. I was not required to provide a positive review and the views and opinions expressed are my own. The books have been loved and tested by my six year old son as well.
