Tell us a little about yourself.  I received a bachelor’s degree in church music at Bob Jones University and a master’s degree in Musicology at Northern Illinois University. I was ordained to to the gospel ministry by First Baptist Church (Rockford, IL) in April of 2004. I have taken seminary classes at Central Baptist Theological Seminary (Plymouth, MN) Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary and did graduate work in choral conducting and church music history at Concordia University in River Forest, Illinois.

As the executive director of Religious Affections Ministries, I speak on the subjects of music and worship at various churches and conferences. My most recent speaking engagements include the Great Lakes Conference on Theology, Central Seminary’s Foundations Conference, International Baptist College, and Bob Jones Seminary.

What was your motivation behind this project?  Every Christian desires to rightly apply the Bible to his life, including his musical choices. But various errant presuppositions negatively affect our ability to rightly accomplish this goal. My desire with this book was to help address some of the primary categories of thought that influence our musical choices in life and worship.

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  My desire is that believers will gain important understanding of the nature of worship, musical communication, aesthetics, and culture, so that they may rightly apply the Bible's clear principles to their choices of music in life and worship.
