Adonai LoverMontanaAge: 55-65Gender: male1 Stars Out Of 5What was the purpose of writing this book?October 29, 2017Adonai LoverMontanaAge: 55-65Gender: maleQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0Guess I'm "Old School" and believe Christians' lives are not their own since they were bought with a price. If you write a book it should be because the Lord tells you to. And if you do, it should be professionally edited. Many write books for $; other "famous" authors today have books ghost written which I feel is dishonest and deception since they place their name on something they did not write.
I purchased this book to "learn" something spiritual about worship since I believe Mrs. Zschech is anointed for worship (Christians in ministry should learn to follow the anointing; it is God's stamp of approval. If you are anointed for worship then that is where the Lord is calling you; not to a Five-fold office of pastor, teacher, evangelist, etc., but to worship and perhaps as a Psalmist).
Although this book is supposed to be about worship, perhaps only 25% of the editorial covers worship with the rest covering things like work/job, marriage, raising children, etc.; doesn't mean her comments about these were wrong but it's not why I purchased the book..
I blame the publisher and editor for this; I am both a publisher and editor of Christian media and if you write a book on a subject then that is what it should cover so I cannot recommend this book if you wish to learn about worship and I was very disappointed that there was nothing given regarding the anointing for worship.
melzNYAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Worship Changes EverythingJanuary 10, 2016melzNYAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5In Worship Changes Everything, singer and songwriter, Darlene Zschech writes about how important worship is in our faith lives. Mrs. Zschech takes the reader into the definition of worship and illustrates with the Scripture moments of worship in the Bible. Mrs. Zschech states that worship is how we respond and invite our Creator into our lives. Worship is when we get to experience relationship with God. Darlene Zschech also urges us to talk to Him every day. She explains that through speaking with Him daily, He will connect with us and meet us where we are.
Darlene Zschech writes with heartfelt honesty. As I read her words, I could feel her genuineness and felt encouragement as well. I would recommend this book for anyone looking to deepen their worship lives. Darlene Zschech is a great guide and encourager.
Note: I have received a copy of this book from Bethany House Publishers in exchange for an honest review.
Sparrowhawk4 Stars Out Of 5Worship Changes Everything served as an instrumental tool to help place my life in perspective and that counts for something!December 30, 2015SparrowhawkQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 3Darlene Zschech is eloquent in her latest book, Worship Changes Everything as she encourages readers to position their hearts in a place of worship by empowering the reader with personal stories and scriptures ― I liked this book, but with a few reservations.
"Here is your call to not take God for granted. To call you from the distractions and self-absorption that would rob us of experiencing His majesty and greatness in every moment."
WHAT I LIKED:
+ I truly appreciate Darlene Zschechs zeal to shed light and relevance in the importance of worship and how we ought to apply it not only in worship meetings but in every area of our lives through servitude and good will. I was even more moved with Zschechs willingness to unmask the significant role our worship plays in our sufferings as Christians. This is a subject that is not often spoken of in the Western Church thus it left an impression on me to see an esteemed author and worship leader open up on the subject of persecution and martyrdom.
+ I really enjoyed how Darlene Zschech placed each one of her principles in a relatable been-there-done-that point of view using personal anecdotes, testimonies and quotes from renowned motivational church leaders and authors like John Piper, Rick Warren, Bill Thrasher, Francis Chan, Billy Graham, William Booth, and Joyce Meyer to name a few.
+ Zschech discusses the rigorous call of the Cross ― to live a life of sacrifice unto the One who sacrificed everything for us ― in a gentle and sensible way. My favorite chapters of the book were the sections where Darlene Zschech inspires the reader to worship God through all things; through our sufferings, through our moments of bliss, in our workplace, in our marriage, through motherhood and finances too!
"One of the ways God asks us to show love for Him is through how we love our spouse and treat our marriage bonds. In a world of brokenness, what a marvelous way to worship God. This is no drudgery. What joy you will find as you love God in your active, passionate, determined, faithful, joyful love of your spouse."
WHAT I DIDNT LIKED:
- I wasnt too keen with Darlene Zschechs style of writing. Almost each section of the book felt incredibly rushed, there was a lacked in depth in some areas, and it was a tad bit too choppy for my taste. She often jumped from one topic to the next wherein I found myself losing track of what she was trying to say and had to reread some paragraphs just to ensure I grasped the significance of the message.
- To boot, this book is jam-packed with scriptures and quotes making each chapter feel overbearing. It stressed me out just looking at all the information simply because I felt I was missing out on valuable information; suffice it to say, this is the type of book youll need to reread to fully appreciate it.
While thoroughly entertaining, I feel I walked away with a few key points and I suspect this is owing to the brimming quotes and scriptures that overflow in this book. Even so, Worship Changes Everything served as an instrumental tool to help place my life in perspective and that counts for something!
JanetBelton, TXAge: 45-54Gender: Female4 Stars Out Of 5Encouragement to Develop a Heart That Worships ContinuallyDecember 24, 2015JanetBelton, TXAge: 45-54Gender: FemaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4In the final chapter of her new book, Worship Changes Everything, Darlene Zschech says, My prayer is that God, through the teaching and inner working of the Holy Spirit, will use Worship Changes Everything to deepen, widen, strengthen, and nourish you in worship; to help you live, love, pray, praise, work, walk, serve, give, overcometo breathein the presence of God.
A few paragraphs later, she continues, I pray that your heart will be stirred by the glory and presence of Jesus, and that with every fiber of your being you will recognize and acknowledge that He alone is worthy of all our praise. If you long to learn how to live with a continual awareness of Gods presence and with a heart that worships Him all day long, Darlene wrote this book to encourage you.
Part One: The Heart of Worship was my favorite part of the book. These six chapters were all about Who God Is and why He Is worthy of our worship, praise, and gratitude. They led me into worship as I read. Part Two: The Hands of Worship was more practical, telling readers how to worship not only at church but also through every aspect of life, looking toward eternity. Both sections contain relevant Scripture references, Darlenes personal experiences, and quotes from well-known Christian leaders, both historical and contemporary, to help readers understand each of Darlene's points.
If developing a heart of worship is something you want to learn more about, I recommend this book to you. Bethany House Publishers sent me a complimentary copy in exchange for this honest review.
Jani417MichiganAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5How To Worship EverywhereDecember 15, 2015Jani417MichiganAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Worship every minute of every day? Absolutely! How do we do this? By walking and talking with God from morning until night. Zschech suggests we bring God along in our daily lives; activities, celebrations, suffering, family, emergencies, and every other occurrence. Talk to God as if He is your companion and best friend, because He is.
God craves interaction with His children and we can and should include Him always. For example, when a dog runs into the street and were able to avoid hitting it with the car we often say Thank God! From now on, say it and mean it. How do we think we managed to miss the dog, for heavens sake? Oh, yes. It was a heavenly intervention for which we need to be thankful.
Group worship with song is inspirational. We literally sing our hearts out, but do we invite God home with us, take him along on errands and spend time talking and listening to Him? That is what Darlene Zschech is telling us. In words, thoughts, songs, prayers; in private, in groups, in desperation and celebration, including prayer to God amounts to worshipping Him and He is worthy.
Zschech suggests having a designated place to worship alone. Pray elsewhere, too, and at all times of day and night, but always begin the day with thanks and praise in your prayer place. Having a date with the Lord and keeping it is important. Look forward to the date time. Know that God, too, is eager to spend time with you. Zschechs own 365 day devotional, Revealing Jesus, is an excellent worship resource.
This book, like any inspirational reading, is best read slowly, thoughtfully, and with close attention. Readers may find themselves enthusiastically seeking more opportunities to share time with the Lord.
I was given a free copy of this book by Bethany House Publishers in return for an honest review. I highly recommend it for those seeking a closer walk with God.
