We purchased this curriculum in order to teach our children about world religions and how to witness to and pray for those who follow them. The curriculum does a good job of this for the most part, however, there is a serious flaw. This curriculum is extremely anti-semitic. On page 327 in his chapter on Satanism, Bodie Hodge actually states, "Christ was offered up as a sacrifice by the Jews." This statement is preposterous as are many other similar statements made in this book. Jews do not offer human sacrifices, and Jesus clearly stated that He laid down His own life. My advice to anyone who purchases this would be to skip Chapter 2 altogether and just teach the actual Bible to your children, as the chapter (What is Biblical Christianity, and Why Is It Different?) is anything but Biblical, teaching the traditions of men and theological inconsistencies instead of the truth found in Scripture. The chapters on other religions are very informative, so it isn't a total loss. You'll just have to keep reminding yourself and your children as you read this book that Jesus identified Himself as the King of the Jews, not the king of the highly indoctrinated fill-in-the-denomination-here.

This is the 301 level course in the subject. Well written, complete, thorough, and accurate as far as I have seen.

This set makes learning about other religions TOTALLY do-able! In the past I have read books that are on just one religion and it really got me kind of bogged down in so much information that I had a difficult time remembering the key points. This set does all the dividing, prioritizing and sorting so that you can conquer the learning! One of the really great things about this book set in today's culture is the way it helps each of us recognize what we are faced with in the various situations of our days. The Bible is our source of truth, but this kind of set is so helpful in showing where God's Word and other religions part ways, and it illustrates ways we need to be careful so that we can rightly divide the bit of truth in some religions from the untrue/myth parts the bits of truth are covering.

I had originally purchased the 3 books intending to just read through them at my leisure. However, having the teacher's guide really made a huge difference. It makes things more manageable, makes sure you remember the main points and serves as an entire guide to working through the material. Everything is easy to understand, the plan is clear and the steps are reasonable, whether you use this for personal enrichment, the way I began, or homeschool (recommend 9-12th grade for greatest level of understanding and retention), as I have now determined to do, you will find your way is easy and you will be amazed at the level of understanding you gain and how you perceive what you encounter going forward in comparison with God's truth. This would also make a fabulous small group study or longer-term Sunday School class. One note about the guide: it does set up the book course as a taking 2 years to complete. However, for older students or motivated adults wanting to work through the material more quickly, it would not need to take that long. I highly recommend both this book set and the teacher's guide that goes with it!!

I recently started my homeschooled 11 yr old on Apologetics, as she started asking some very valid questions about other religions and how each one claims to be the true religion. So I decided it was time to start looking around for a world religions curriculum, that would be all encompassing and answer all her questions, BUT be taught form a Christian perspective. This set is the an aswer to my prayer!

You can get all 3 books in this series in one set, for ease in having the print versions always at hand, or you can get the downloadable version of each othe books (and guide). We preferred those, as my daughter could load it onto her Kindle app, and get help with sounding out words she didn't know, and we could listen while on the road to dance class as well. This was helpful to have relative discussions, right after finishing each chapter.

What we both loved was I really loved how there is not one set 'author' for these volumes, rather, there are a series of authors, taking on each religlion and offshoot. This allows for different opinions, but ALL from the Christian viewpoint, so you don't feel like you are getting a lecture from one person, but rather a series of lectures.

Vol 1 - does a great job in sorting out, and explaining how the different religions came from the same base tree of faith, but how mans interpretation, led them into religious differences. It also deals with the Counterfeits of Christianity- also know as fallen faiths- those who acknowledge the bible as true to a point, but then let interpretation and modern social norms take over and CHANGE the theology. This is the foundation volume

Vol 2 - could easily coincide with a High Schooler taking a World History/Ancient Civ course, or be used with it.It takes a valid look at the 'ancient religions' and where they started, and how they evolved. I was happy to see that the authors all understood that most of the 'religions' started from mythology and how what was a way to understand their world around them, quickly became 'man's religion', not God. The book does a wonderful job of sorting the different religions and their history, contrasting to a Biblical worldvew and helping kids understand how to explain that to others.

Vol 3- the newest, and one that is best for high schoolers, as it deals with how modern culture is trying to change God's religions into a pervted man's version, that does its best to bash Christianity, so that the fallacies inherent in their viewpoints are not seen. This last volume REALLY prepares the student for the perils and attacks, on their faith, that they will MOST likely face once the start college, or are already facing.

All in all, this is a VERY thorough course, and one that I would HIGHLY recommend to all homeschoolers, for their kids to read at least Volumes 1 and 3, and for parents to discuss Volume 3 with them. You might also find it helpful for confirmation classes and youth groups. It's a class that will STAY with your students/children, and give them a FIRM foundation in their Christian faith, and be able to intelligently defend it. You never know, they might even be able to convert some non-believers with the logic they learn in this series!
