Women with troubled histories often experience lingering despair, woundedness, and self-recrimination, even after embracing God's transforming power. Kok's personal stories about overcoming her own past demonstrate how God can incorporate abuse, painful relationships, and mistakes into a future that exceeds all expectations! This 12-week interactive Bible study, written at an easy-to read level, will walk women through the process of uncovering the story of a painful past, understanding it, and allowing God to incorporate it into a future full of hope and adventure.

Phyllis Griffin5 Stars Out Of 5September 22, 2008Phyllis GriffinI bought this book because I'd seen Elsa Kok on the DivorceCare videos. I've been a believer since I was 16, and I was divorced at age 49 after 27 years of marriage due to my husband's unfaithfulness. This book helped me reflect on what God had done for me and what he's brought me through. It helped clear up some areas for me that had been hanging around for a long time.
Mary Hyndman5 Stars Out Of 5August 27, 2007Mary HyndmanThis book is a wonderful tool both to remember how far you've come or to define a clear path of how to get started or continue in your healing process. I highly recommend it for all kinds of childhood issues because the kind of trauma we suffer may be different, but the ways we respond, react and recover are very similar. Elsa uses wonderful real life stories to illustrate how our past can affect our lives both present and future unless we learn a new way of dealing with our pain. She also kept us rooted in Scripture where the message was clear; Jesus is the difference we seek and the one who can heal our pain and transform it into more than we ever hoped for or imagined because that's how big and how good our LORD is. I thank God for leading me to this book and for walking with each of us through this study. I pray for all those who will choose this study knowing that it can and will help anyone who is willing to embrace what is offered in its pages while trusting Jesus to walk alongside them as they embark on or remember their pathway to healing. It's worth every tear because He never wastes even one.
