I have read all of the Hope Harbor books. You would think after so many they would start to get tedious or the story line would feel familiar and old. Irene Hanson has a gift because that has not happened. Each book has a little something different about them. This book was no different. The three main characters were a pleasure to watch open and develop as the storyline went on. The deeper aspects of love were discussed here which was beautiful. I look forward to her next book.

I'm thankful for the opportunity that Revell publishers has provided through this program.

Irene Hannons Hope Harbor Series is one of my favorites for several reasons. The setting is in Hope Harbor which is on the Oregon Coast, a small town where people still take time to invest in one another, and a place that sounds like a delightful place to visit (or even move). In Windswept Way, Hannon showcases her award-winning writing style with another beautifully written story of healing, hope, and happiness.

What I like best about Windswept Way is how Hannon uses the examples of three different types of people that others, for the most part, have chosen to forget about. One is a Senior Citizen that has become a recluse due to some actions of her former husband, one is a young woman who is beaten down and desperately in need of affirmation, and the other is a Veteran whose physical scars are keeping him from the relationships he deserves. The surprise character in the story is an isolated property that was once a showpiece. It has also been forgotten about without a family filled with love to dwell in it. Will Hannons three forgotten characters be able to pull together and find a way of healing, hope, and happiness as they work to restore the once grand home.

So much about this story made it special. Like the other books in this series, I especially like Charley, the taco artist, who is also a painter and a wise adviser, or maybe he could be called a philosopher. He listens well, but does not spread what he hears. At times, it seems that he hears from other sources besides the friendly people of Hope Harbor. He manages to have the right words at the right time. Floyd and Gladys are always close by when anything interesting is going on. If you haven't read any of this series, you need to get acquainted with Floyd and Gladys. Ashley has big plans, but she needs to convince Rose to accept her as a partner. Rose is exceptionally astute regarding human nature although she has lived the life of a recluse for years now in her family homeplace. Another wise adviser. Then Father Murphy and the ex-convict, Kyle, both have a way of offering wise counsel, whether or not it is wanted. Jon and Ashley find themselves in great need of wise counsel, even when they are not seeking it and have no idea they need it. I loved the uplifting message in this story. I always find another visit to Hope Harbor to be pleasant and uplifting. I would love to find a real place just like it.

Ashley Scott needs a change of scenery so she moves across the country to Hope Harbor to take on the project of turning a historic cliffside mansion into a wedding venue.

A compelling read with captivating characters that caught my attention from the start. I especially enjoyed Rose, who is a spirited, but reclusive, older woman and how she welcomes Ashley into her world as they work together on bringing their vision to life. They enlist the help of Jonathan Gray a war veteran who likes to keep to himself, with scars that are more than skin deep.

A compelling read filled with a captivating cast of characters, as well as familiar faces from the previous books. I have enjoyed these hope harbor books so much and I can't believe this is the ninth installment to the series, though this book can also be read as a standalone. It was so fun seeing the three of them working together and opening their hearts over the course of the story.

Overall, an engaging read with a compelling and heartwarming storyline set in a beautiful coastal town. I couldn't help but cheer for Rose, Ashley and Jonathan all the way through this compelling read. Highly recommend!

Windswept Way was such a beautiful story! I have only read the first three novels in the Hope Harbor series years ago and then jumped to this one, which is book nine. I had no trouble at all picking this novel up and enjoying it on its own merit. Of course, I know that there are people and events that I have missed in the overall series, yet that did not impact my enjoyment of this book. In fact, I think I will go back and start at the beginning again at some point and hopefully listen my way through the entire series.

The hero in this novel, Jon, is definitely wounded. His war wounds have left very serious scarring. He covers them as best he can and has isolated himself away from most people. But as bad as his outside scarring is, it is the scarring that is emotional and tied to his injuries that have really kept him from living life in the fullest. Ashley has pain that she is carrying around when she arrives in Hope Harbor, too.

I loved the way the connection between Ashley and Jon developed. It was very natural and the fears and uncertainties that they both carried impacted the way things progressed. Kind of a one step forward and two steps back type of situation. There was a lot of emotional healing that needed to occur before Jon felt that he could trust his heart to Ashley. And he struggled with whether a relationship with him was something that would even be a wise decision for her to pursue. I thought the author did a great job of showing the uncertainties that both of these characters struggled with. I loved this story from start to finish!
