Cassie Lockwood is a spunky trick rider full of dreams of a real home. So she heads to South Dakota to find her father's "Valley of Dreams." However, when she arrives, she finds that a ranch already exists on her father's land.
The Engstrom brothers Ransom and Lucas have very different views about the newcomer to their home. Lucas decides right away that he wants to marry Cassie, but Ransom resents her presence.
Frankly, the first book seemed a bit slow to me. It simply explained a lot about Cassie's past, followed her journey to South Dakota, and introduced the conflict between Ransom and Lucas. The first half of the second book meandered along rather slowly as well; however, the tension rose towards the end, making it very enjoyable. Yet, my favorite was the last novel in the series. Cassie and Lucas plan to get married even though Cassie doesn't really love him. Then....well, I don't want to ruin the surprise for anyone, but I will say it ended the way I had hoped!
These novels are very wholesome Christian reading that do not go overboard into the romantic. I recommend them to anyone who enjoys historical fiction.
