The book is filled with beautiful photos on about every other page of the recipes and her family. I saw the family history of cooking and hospitality as I read through the New Southern Table cookbook.
The recipes are easy to make with ingredients already on hand or easily found at the store. I liked that she included a list of pantry items so one can be well-stocked. Many people don't do this and I think it is essential to good cooking. Another part of this cookbook I enjoyed was the personal note before the recipes. I would recommend this cookbook. She takes classics and make a few swaps and switches and makes them healthier for the at home cook to eat. Her cookbook is full of easy to use recipes that dont have ingredients that are hard to find or expensive and makes them simple and fast so any one can be a New Southern Table cook. The pictures are so pretty and she writes in such a manner that its like your old friends and she is sharing her families recipes with you. Whitney Millers New Southern Table is a cookbook that will never make it my bookshelf it will be on my kitchen counter since I know Ill be using it so much why put it up. Her red beans and rice recipe is different from any recipe Ive seen and since I make it weekly that was the first one I knew Id try. All her recipes are good not just on paper but when you make them also. You know what I mean you get a cookbook, try a recipe and it doesnt come anywhere near what the book says. Not Whitney Millers book all the recipes come out great and with such ease! Grab a copy and try out some good down home southern cooking with a twist.

I absolutely love the beautiful pictures inside and the stories of reminiscing and Whitney Miller's own personal thoughts on certain dishes. Each recipe begins with this wonderful introduction, which made me immediately want to invite some people over and start cooking.
It's not often when I get a new cookbook and I want to cook every single recipe inside. In fact, I think there may be only 1 or 2 that I have cooked everything out of it. This book is going to be added to that shelf. There was not one recipe that didn't churn up some memories or excitement for me. As I was going through it, I was already planning ahead for Thanksgiving and making a list of some wonderful dishes to try.
Another wonderful thing about this cookbook is that there are several gluten-free recipes included, as well. I appreciated that sensitivity to those with different diets who need an alternative but would love to eat some good food.
The recipes are made from a list of ingredients that I actually keep in my pantry. There wasn't anything extra special about the ingredients, which I love! The steps are simple and makes it so easy and quick for the home cook to follow. This makes cooking so much more fun and not quite a burden with a list of steps to follow that are difficult or time-consuming.
We tried the Seared Beef Tips and the Not Your Grandma's Roast. These were delicious! I have pretty much made my entire weekly meal plan from this cookbook. I can't wait to try all of these dishes--from breakfast to dessert, I'm anxious to see what my kids like!

It was easy to read, it has directions that are simple and ingredients that anyone can find in their cabinets at home. I loved the fact that this book was filled with pictures of Whitey and her family, their traditions, eating dinner together, and of foods that they like to enjoy together. It made me feel cozy, and it made me want to stop what I was doing and whip up some of the yummy food that she has in this book. I cannot wait to try out these recipes on my family and friends.
