tammycookblogsbooks5 Stars Out Of 5Whispers on the DockMay 5, 2014tammycookblogsbooksThis review was written for Whispers on the Dock, Postcards From Misty Harbor Series #3.This review gives more insight than just "it was/wasn't a good book" or "this is/isn't a must read". While I try not to give too much away, sometimes it's difficult to write about the story and have it not be revealing.
Whispers on the Dock is the third book in the Postcards from Misty Harbor Inn Series. What I find interesting is that the series is written by four different people under the pen name of Evangeline Kelley. The authors are Patti Berg, Pam Hanson & Barbara Andrews, and Camy Tang. It's amazing that they all can contribute and make it seem like only one person has written it.
The series started with three sisters, Caroline Marris, Gracie Gold, and Sam Carter, vacationing in Nantucket in Seaside Harmony. They decided to realize their deceased mother's dream and buy a local dilapidated inn called Misty Harbor Inn. Their plan was to transform it into a Bed & Breakfast. The second book in the series, Sunflower Summer, begins one year after the sisters became owners of the Misty Harbor Inn. They open for business and welcome guests to the inn and into their lives. In Whispers on the Dock the inn has been up and running for two months and the sisters are enjoying their new lives in Nantucket.
Caroline, the free spirit has decided to settle down. I am so glad that Caroline and George are finally getting married. They had been best friends for thirty years. I found it unbelievable in the previous books of the series that they would continue to stay just friends that long without marrying.
Gracie really wants to prove that Hannah wasn't killed and that she didn't steal any money. In Whispers on the Dock the sisters are closer than ever in figuring out the fate of Hannah Montague. Parts of solving the mystery actually were described a little too much for my liking. When they were deciphering a code I was totally confused. Apart from that, the story about Hannah Montague was the most interesting that it has been throughout this series.
Sam has really gotten into baking and decided to enter a dessert in the Summerfest baking contest. When she meets one of her opponents, Betsy Carlisle, she needs to rise above her wanting to win to do what she knows is right. But she's not sure exactly how to do that. I was quite surprised at the way Sam reacted to Betsy with all the contest silliness.
Two guests bring quite a bit of excitement to the inn. One has information about Hannah Montague. The sisters find out way more than they even imagined about Hannah and her family tree. The other guest is a romance writer that gets Caroline excited about planning her wedding — maybe a little too excited.
This whole series is very similar to the Tales from Grace Chapel Inn series, and geared towards an older audience. This is a clean, uplifting story. It is also a light read. You won't get bogged down reading about heavy issues. I think you'll feel like you may even want to visit Nantucket and the charming Misty Harbor Inn. Whispers on the Dock and the rest of the series is an enjoyable escape where you're sure there will be a happy ending.

I enjoyed reading about how they started their bed and breakfast on Nantucket Island. I've enjoyed each phase of their story. These are cozy little novels with happy endings. What more could you want? Mystery! Secrets! Love! Beautiful descriptions! Whispers on the Dock has it. It also has some of the closure that I was seeking in the past books. The interaction between the three sisters seems authentic. This final book in the series holds some surprises. You'll enjoy it most if you've read the first two.
Read my reviews of the first two Postcards from Misty Harbor Inn: Seaside Harmony and Sunflower Summer.

What a delightful visit with old friends. You feel like you are living there with them. Now I should let you know you can read this without reading the first two, but you would be depriving yourself of a lot of joy, and a great reads.
There are a lot of answers to long asked questions that are revealed here. Some long buried secrets, with the right people put in their paths with answers, not a coincidence, God is with them.
We can picture this beautiful Island thru their eyes, and I loved looking at the surf and flowers. There are mysteries to be solved, and the finding of hidden rooms in and out of the Inn.
The Sister's come to terms with their decision to start new lives together at the Inn, and some struggle. Love the people who appear to be problems, and end up different.
Don't miss this wonderful final visit with these sisters....could we have another book?

From the back cover: Three sisters. A charming inn. Hints of mystery and romance. And a gorgeous seaside setting. Escape to Misty Harbor Inn.
Sam Carter, the youngest Marris sister, decides to enter her mother's blackberry cobbler recipe in the Summerfest baking contest. But she has a formidable opponent, a past winner who is not above engaging in dirty tactics to keep her title. Can Sam rise above the fray to reach out to this lonely woman? Sam and her sisters, Caroline Marris and Gracie Gold, welcome a new guest to Misty Harbor Inn, an elderly woman who knows a great deal of their new home's history. When she shares her photo album, they are stunned to learn that their mother lived there as a child, even though she told them that she'd never been to Nantucket except on her honeymoon! Why would she lie? What was she hiding? The sisters make an intriguing discovery, not only about Hanna Montague, the young woman who vanished from the house more than a hundred years ago, but about their own family history.
An abandoned inn that has been restored is now officially open for business. A mother's dream of owning the inn that was re-birthed within her daughters is now a reality. This time the focus is on Sam, the youngest sister, but all three sisters play an integral part of the story. It is a very busy time at the inn; Carolyn is planning a wedding, Gracie is trying to sell her home and Sam is preparing to enter a baking contest. Now with the help of a guest and local historians this trio will attempt to solve the hundred year old mystery of Hannah who disappeared after having been branded a thief. "Whispers On The Dock" is a lot of fun. "Whispers On The Dock" is a wonderful, sweet story with power and depth that will keep you flipping pages. I really hope that there will be more stories about Misty Harbor Inn and these three sisters.

Heart2HeartVictorville, CAAge: 45-54Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5The perfect summer romance series!!August 20, 2013Heart2HeartVictorville, CAAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This review was written for Whispers on the Dock, Postcards From Misty Harbor Series #3.The mystery of what happened to Hannah Montague is still in the minds of Sam Carter, Caroline Marris and Gracie Gold, three sisters who are all co-owners of the Misty Harbor Inn. They are still no closer to finding out any more clues than they had hoped and lately everything has been coming to a dead end. With the issue that this happened in the late 1800's before most records were being stored, their only clues have been trying to trace handwritten post cards that Hannah left with encrypted codes. Rumor has it that Hannah went missing and may have stolen money from a church at the time. However the three sisters have a feeling that there is more to the story than what they have heard. When an elderly resident comes to stay at the Inn could she be the one to put all the missing pieces to rest once and for all?
Secret passages and rooms are still being discovered along with boxes and crates of items that belonged to each of the Inn's former owners. Will they be able to uncover the one thing that will link all the missing pieces together or will they find out that poor Hannah Montague met with a fate she wasn't expecting?
In the latest and final novel in the Postcards from Misty Harbor Inn by Evangeline Kelley, Whispers in the Dock ties up all the lingering answers in this heartwarming romance/mystery novel. Evangeline Kelley is the pen name for the writing team of Patti Berg, Pam Hanson, Barbara Andrews and Camy Tang and was one I was waiting for the put an perfect end to my summer reading series of novels. I got this one just in time to head to the beach for a perfect blend of sun, ocean waves and the romance that the ocean always brings.
While the three sisters continue searching for the solution to the mystery of Hannah Montague, each of them also has their own personal issues to deal with. For Caroline Marris is in the midst of making plans for her upcoming wedding to George and is finding things a bit challenging since she isn't feeling like your typical bride should be in looking forward to her wedding as well as searching for a home that they both will share once they are married. She's beginning to wonder if marriage is the right path for her after all.
Sam Carter, the Inn's resident baker extraordinaire is being challenged to enter her latest dessert creation in the town's baking contest, her blackberry cobbler using her mother's recipe with a little tweaking added. However she learns that the contest may be rigged when it seems that Betsy Carlisle has been the winner in the previous four years and then her mother five years before that. Will Sam be able to put the winning streak for Betsy Carlisle to an end or will her dessert wind up on the losing side?
Gracie Gold is still trying to find a buyer for her home since putting in all her inheritance money into the purchase of the Inn. It seems that her thirty five year old home needs more money in renovations than she is willing to spend and she struggles with making a decision to sell the only home that's been in her family for ages or cut her loss and sell it for whatever she can. Will she make the right decision that she can live with?
I received Whispers on the Dock by Evangeline Kelley compliments of Guideposts Publishing and Litfuse Publicity for my honest review. I received no monetary compensation for a favorable review. I will be missing the three sisters that I've gotten to know this summer during my journey and stay at Misty Harbor Inn. It is bittersweet knowing that at least for now, this is where it all ends. I think the authors did an exceptional job at keeping the cliff hanger mystery going throughout all three of these charming novels and love all the little personal stories that have come along with them and in renovating a childhood Inn that their own mother used to talk about owning one day. I easily rate this one a 5 out of 5 stars and will be adding this one to the rest of the novels in this series to my summer beach bag to read again next year to spark those old familiar feelings of romance and intrigue once again.
