Live2Teach5 Stars Out Of 5Treasure or Trouble?February 11, 2025Live2TeachQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This review was written for Whispers of Fortune, Softcover, #1.Arriving at Two Harts Ranch, the two MacKenzie teenagers are hoping to secretly search for hidden treasure, not expecting their older brother to show up to bring them home. But when Brody MacKenzie arrives and tries to take his brothers, he doesn't count on their fierce protector, Ellie Hart. When all four set out on a treasure hunt, do they find a hidden treasure or will they find something more nefarious?
I highly recommend this story to anyone who loves Christian fiction, a great adventure, and great word building!
I received an ARC from the publisher. However, my review is done of my own volition and is my own opinion. -

I love the blend of faith, romance, and adventure with swoony heroes and strong women. I was delighted to discover this book takes us back to the Two Harts Ranch that was a part of The Lumber Baron's Daughters series. Though not main characters in Whispers of Fortune, it was fun to reconnect with Zane Hart and sisters Michelle, Jilly, and Laura. Two Harts Ranch has been expanded into a boarding school for orphans. Two of them, Thayne and Lock MacKenzie, ages 16 and 14, left their home in New York and traveled on an Orphan Train to California. They had a journal from their grandfather that mentioned treasure which whetted their imaginations. When their older brother, Brody, returned home from college to find the boys missing, he soon was on their trail. The Hart ranch is being run by Josh and his sisters Annie and Ellie. Brody's meeting wih them was memorable. You might guess that with a rumored treasure there would be others hunting who were less than honorable, even downright despicable. Whispers of Fortune is a fun book to read. I can hardly wait for the next book in the series to continue the story. This is definitely a series that needs to be read in order and in its entirety. I received a complimentary copy of the book. All thoughts are my own.

Gnomie5 Stars Out Of 5Western TreasureFebruary 4, 2025GnomieThis review was written for Whispers of Fortune, Softcover, #1.Treasure and a western, what more could you ask for? This is the story of the Hart family who run an orphanage on the Two Harts Ranch and the MacKenzie brothers (two who are constantly getting into trouble). Brody comes searching for his brothers and meets Ellie who helps run the ranch and school. Together they try to solve the clues to find the treasure. Full of mystery, suspense, romance, inspiration, and humor. Looking forward to the next book in the series. I love the descriptions of the western scenery.

Kim H in GASouth GeorgiaAge: 45-54Gender: Female5 Stars Out Of 5Waiting for Book 2!February 4, 2025Kim H in GASouth GeorgiaAge: 45-54Gender: FemaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Lost treasure, missing orphans, vengeful villains and a full cast of characters collide with the Golden State Treasure debut. Book one will not be enough to satisfy readers as the threads of the tale continue with more surprises, strong faith elements and tough, compassionate families in wild California terrain.
I received a complimentary copy of the book without obligation. This review is my opinion. -
Mrs ARS5 Stars Out Of 5True fortuneMarch 3, 2025Mrs ARSQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This review was written for Whispers of Fortune, Softcover, #1.This story started out with Ellie dropping her favorite bowl at the banging of a fist on her door and the angry shouts of a man. That man was Brody MacKenzie, a man trying to locate his two runaway brothers. I have to say that was quite a beginning sentence, and sets up a story full of treasure hunting, familial bonds, danger, and of course, romance.
Ellie and her family run a ranch and orphanage to give orphaned kids an education and teach them a skill so that they have a chance in life. This is where newly minted doctor, Brody finds his brothers thriving after running away from their abusive late father. Intent on taking them back home to Boston to fulfill a promise and pay back a debt, Brody never imagines he would be up against Ellie and her family. They actually care what happens to his wayward brothers despite their mischievous ways and treasure hunting. And if Brody was willing, they also have a need for a doctor.
I liked both Ellie and Brody and knew they would make a great match. Brody is a loving older brother, cares for the patients, and is a man of his word. Ellie has a servant's heart and loves unconditionally. Brody and Ellie agree to help one another in the doctoring and the treasure hunting and in doing so the inevitable happens and they fall in love. However, neither one of them are aware of a danger lurking in the shadows, watching and waiting to strike.
This is a great start to a new series. I was a little confused at first as there seemed to be some stories that I missed concerning some of the characters, like this wasn't the first in the series. I had to check and sure enough this seems to be following another series that I haven't had the pleasure of reading yet. Once this story gets going it stands well on its own.
I was provided a copy of this novel by Bethany House Publishers through Interviews & Reviews. I was not required to post a positive review, and all views and opinions are my own.
