I love the style which Where God Finds You is written. It find that it breathes life into each character written about allowing me a more thought provoking view of the Scripture they are mentioned in. I find the style in which Anita has written this devotional book easy to follow allowing me to answer the questions she poses in each chapter as they apply in my life. Sometimes it is hard to understand Scripture the way it is written so it is great to have someone expand the story and relate to our lives today.
40 Devotions featuring short stories of different people from the Bible, are brought to life in Anita Higman's latest book Where God Finds You.
Anita has taken each story small story and expanded it with fiction to bring the story to life, all while staying true to the actual scripture.
Each story starts with her expanded story, then the actual story from God's words. Finally ending with the story from then to know where she describes how it relates to happenings in her own life or how it could relate in your own life. At the end of each devotion are thought provoking questions that get you thinking about what you have just read and how it may apply to your life.
If you are like me, I sometime have a hard time understanding the scriptures, But in reading her devotions, then reading the actual scripture behind it, I have come away with a much better understanding and am able to relate to many of the stories. The people of the Bible all those many years ago were just like us trying to live in this world today.
I received a copy of the book from The Book Club Network in exchange for my honest review.
Where God Finds You: 40 Devotions Bringing Bible Characters to Life by Anita Higman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
Anita tells us she is no one special and was reluctant to write a book like this but after much prayer felt led to put scriptures together with some strong Characters from the Bible into Devotions daily or to just sit and read, soaking up words God wants you to hear.
Ancient Bible characters sometimes seem just that "Ancient". Anita brought them to life for a few minutes as I read seeing them through her eyes. I enjoyed reading about so many different characters ..some even without a name like "The Woman who touched his robe to receive healing by her belief".
Another was "The Woman who let down her hair and tears fell on Jesus feet, she dried the tears with her hair and kissed his feet in adoration".
I wonder why the Bible tells us of people without names, then I think.. "He loves even the least of us...."
This is a different type of devotional and well worth reading, thanks Anita for listening to the still small voice of our Lord and writing...
I was given this book by Bookclub network to review, thank you.
Not just another devotional but an amazing daily walk with God.
I liken this experience in this book to music. When you listen to music on a good surround sound unit, you feel like the band or the orchestra is right beside you in the same room. Thanks to The BookClub network who put this book in my hands.Anita you awaken my senses, with with desire for more of God.
I received a free copy of this book from bookfun.org for my honest opinion.
Each of the devotions in it are about a different bible character. Some of them are well known and some of them are minor characters who are only mentioned briefly. Anita Higman has taken the time to read and reread each particular incident she includes and then put herself in the characters shoes. She has written each story from a first-person perspective. She then follows that with the actual scripture she was covering. She also has a section for each devotion relating the incident to today. She ends each one with a number of thought provoking questions to ponder.
A number of the stories she has included I have read in the bible but never really thought about how the people involved would have been feeling at the time. This book has helped me to really stop and take a closer look at these people and what they went through.
I highly recommend this devotional book to everyone.
