Robin Lee Hatcher is one of the long established authors of Christian fiction. WHENEVER YOU COME AROUND, her latest novel and a part of the KINGS MEADOW ROMANCE series is perfect summer read. To her hometown of Kings Meadow, author Charity Anderson is a successful hometown girl who has moved on. Actually, Charity's absence is a self-imposed coping mechanism, a way to deny deep pain. It is only after Charity returns to Kings Meadow for the summer while her house undergoes a huge renovation, that she realizes that while she might be protecting herself from painful memories, she has also denied herself happiness and a fulfilling life.
This title should be a hit with romance lovers. The setting is idyllic; at one point in the book, Charity and neighbor Buck Malone comment on Idaho's striking mountain views. Buck is the ultimate romantic interest -- just enough roughness on the outside, but plenty of tenderness on the inside. And he is totally genuine. No hidden twists here, except for Charity's unshared past. This is a story of people growing up and changing their goals; it is also a story of friendship and simple kindness growing into something more. I have not read the first KINGS MEADOW romance, and it isn't necessary, but I am intrigued about the novella I HOPE YOU DANCE coming out this month. According to Hatcher, the novella will feature a KINGS MEADOW wedding. Plus KEEPER OF THE STARS which comes out later this year or early 2016 will again feature the mountains of Idaho. If you like clean, contemporary romance then why not give this series a try? I received a copy of WHENEVER YOU COME AROUND from BOOKLOOK for my honest opinion.
A breathtaking story celebrating God's grace and second chances.
The hero and heroine's first meet had me laughing and wincing. Talk about making a first impression! I'll leave you to judge whether it's a good one or a bad one. There's definitely some sizzle going on between Charity and Buck. He kind of enjoys it and can be a bit of a flirt -- she's just running scared. Falling in love is so not on her agenda. Pretty hard to stick to the program though when you're writing a romance staging a real life cowboy hero.
As with all Hatcher's books, the setting takes on a life of its own. Loved revisiting Kings Meadow. Am enamoured with rural Idaho thanks to this author's descriptive words.
I think Charity's journey touched me the most. She's chosen to silently battle a difficult past and that unwillingness to share has left some deep scars. Shame, insecurity and keeping God at a distance are the caustic results of her silence. My heart hurt for her. Buck is just the person to bring her out of her self-imposed exile.
A stirring tale about the healing power of love -- both God's and man's.
Whenever You Come Around is the second book in the Kings Meadow Romance series. After reading A Love Without End, which is book one, I couldnt read the second book soon enough. Hatcher Makes the characters so interesting! I couldnt wait to get to know Charity and Buck. This book is set in Kings Meadow, which is a small town where everybody knows each other. Charity didnt like coming home because she has some horrible memories that for some reason over shadow the good ones. When her home in Boise is flooded she is forced to get out of her comfort zone and her parents house seems like the perfect place. Charity has a deadline for her next book and peace and quiet is just what she needs. She hadnt considered that she might have a gorgeous neighbor who happens to be her high school crush. When an accident forces them to spend time together, Charity finds it hard to think of anything but Buck. Will they overcome the obstacles and find out what God has in store for them?
I received a copy of this book from Netgalley and Bethany House Publishers in exchange for my honest opinion. All opinions expressed are my own.
Charity Anderson never expected to spend the summer next door to her high school crush when she decided to spend several months in her childhood home in Kings Meadow, Idaho. Struggling to write a new book while her home in Boise is being remodeled, Charity hopes to find refuge while her parents travel abroad, but just one glance at Buck Malone has her sufficiently distracted. What is worse, her faithful dog Cocoa involves Buck in a "leash accident" that leaves him with a broken wrist and ankle; preventing him from leading wilderness trips for most of the summer.
Buck Malone barely recognizes Kings Meadow's most famous author. Charity Anderson has not come home in years and that puzzles him. It's obvious that there is more to her story when he quizzes her about it, but she refuses to give him any details and practically hyper-ventilates when he digs for information. Since he is a self-confirmed bachelor, Buck has a difficult time understanding his fascination with his lovely neighbor-turned-helper during his convalescence. The summer is ending quickly, do Charity and Buck have enough time to sort out their true feelings?
"Whenever You Come Around" is a nice addition to Robin Lee Hatcher's Kings Meadows Romance series, but the story ends a little too quickly and I was left wanting just a little bit more.
Whenever You Come Around is a sweet romance set in the midst of the beauty of Kings Meadow, Idaho. In typical fashion, Robin Lee Hatcher creates rich characters with deep emotions who interact through an engaging plot filled with just the right amount of tension and intrigue.
The promise of budding romance is pretty obvious from the first pages. And the story goes deeper into the realm of forgiveness (especially for one's self) and healing of deep, long-held wounds. The story has a contemporary setting with some current issues that all come together in a warm tale of faith and love.
I highly recommend this very enjoyable read from a great author.
