As a Christian home schooling mom, I consider this book a "must read" for anyone who is thinking about educating their children at home, or doing so already. This book is totally convicting and inspiring! We should be raising followers of Christ, not Harvard scholars! What do we gain if our children are little geniuses, but do not know Christ?

This incredible little gem of a book by Dr. R.C. Sproul, Jr. is at once timely and timeless. It is timely in that its message is urgently needed in the homeschool community today; it is timeless because of its let's-get-back-to-the-source (that is, Scripture) approach. Beginning with Deuteronomy 6 ("when you rise up, when you walk by the way..."), Dr. Sproul makes the case that Scripture is truly sufficient (adequate and infallible) for the education and upbringing of sons and daughters. He shows that as Christian parents go about their God-given task of raising children for the glory of God, they ought to look only to the Bible (and not to the patterns and ideas of the world) for the what, why and how of teaching and discipling them, according to the Author and Creator of all things (while not at all suggesting, for example, that we shouldn't use any other books or material for teaching). In the end, Christ is the center of all things.I would strongly encourage every Christian to read this book, whether or not they are currently raising children or even married (I'm not, yet)! I pray it would have an impact on your life and worldview as it is having on mine. May Jesus Christ be praised!

Very thought provoking book. It is not so much practical as it is theological. I really enjoyed this book and strongly recommend it to anyone who has children and would like to bring them up in the ways of the Lord!

Every parent should read this book. Gods ways and His thoughts should be our guide in raising our children not the worlds ways or thoughts. R.C. writes the truth in a time when even Gods church often wants to follow the worlds ideas. This is a book about parenting to please God and only God!

This book is profitable for anyone homeschooling or considering it. I didn't agree with everything in the book, but it's still a worthwhile read to get homeschoolers to remember why we're really doing it in the first place, which is to disciple our children.
