Publisher's Description

Year after year, Ann Spangler has provided readers with uniquely appealing devotional books. When You Need a Miracle continues the tradition by selecting the best stories from her first two books, An Angel a Day and A Miracle a Day, to offer readers a picture of a God who is far bigger and better than most people think. By combining stories from the Bible with stories of contemporary men and women who have experienced miracles or angels, Ann helps readers recognize the hand of a loving, all-powerful God at work in this world of anxiety and uncertainty. Anyone who has longed for a miracle will take heart from the remarkable stories in this book. They remind us that, even in the midst of trouble and trial, one thing remains true: We belong to a God who is eager and able to care for us through his wisdom, kindness, and unfailing mercy. Each of these ninety devotions opens with a key Scripture and closes with a prayer.

Publisher Information: About the Book

The awe-inspiring power of God

Through stories of angelic encounters and miraculous happenings, you will be reminded that regardless of your circumstances, God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. This beautiful collection of devotions draws from two proven favorites— previously published as An Angel a Day and A Miracle a Day by bestselling author Ann Spangler.

Refresh your faith in the God of miracles.

That’s what this book is about. God doing extraordinary things for ordinary people.

In a time of anxiety and uncertainty, these stories reveal the surprising power of God’s love for you. Bestselling author Ann Spangler shines a light on the God who is far bigger and more merciful than you think ... the God who deeply cares about you ... the God who generously offers the help you seek. Whether you are sitting before a cozy fire or taking a break in your frenzied day, reading these devotions will help you draw closer to the only One who is capable of being your refuge in every kind of trouble. Each reflection will remind you that, even in the midst of life’s challenges, one thing remains true: You belong to a God who is eager and able to care for you with wisdom, kindness, and unfailing mercy.

Drawn from Ann’s previously published works An Angel a Day and A Miracle a Day, these devotions open with a Bible verse and close with a prayer. Each will reveal the love of God for everyone who needs a miracle—including you.

When You Need A Miracle by Ann Spangler keeps you on the edge of your seat with its information, from an angel encouraging a little girl to eat her oatmeal happily, to the famous 17th century theologian Samuel Rutherford, as a boy, being rescued from a well by an angel; from a student nurse receiving help from an angel to rescue an injured man from a burning truck, to waking up in the middle of the night and hearing angels in your room discussing the chances of you making the correct moral decision.

And then there are the miracles: a little boy desperately allergic to fruit healed so immediately he can eat an apple; a radically sick mother told that her unborn baby would be deformed by her sickness refuses to abort and gives birth to a healthy, strong baby; a family member gives away $5 they can ill afford and next day receives $25 back.

But that is not all there is to this book. Ann Spangler has built a strong scriptural foundation for When You Need A Miracle. No man-designed angels appear. No miracles unwrought by God occur. No accounts that are contrary to Scripture are presented. In fact, a major portion of this book recounts biblical angelic appearances and miracles. Written in a devotional style, When You Need A Miracle starts by stating its aim as, ”. . . to refresh your faith in the God who met Moses in the desert . . . and to nourish your belief that he still speaks today” (p. 10). Each reflection is recounted with Scripture, an application to bring you closer to your Lord, and a sample prayer. The scriptural accounts are strategically placed throughout to draw your thoughts towards the God of angels and miracles, rather than leaving you ruminating only on them. Not all is sweetness and light. There is a segment on Satan and his angels, and another on times when no angel comes to the rescue. The miracle section includes a temporary miracle and having faith without receiving a miracle.

I found this book interesting and thought provoking. It is easy to read, and when read where others can see its title promotes inquiry, which can lead to witnessing. – Donna Eggett, www.ChristianBookPreviews.com
