Part workbook, part manual, Whats Your Function? is a meditative and interactive guide for anyone struggling to find their place in the professional world and beyond. The book does have a religious focus and theme, as evidenced by the title, but it does not preach or push. Author Aaron Basko explains the basics of each individuals function, helps the reader uncover their function and recognize that God has given us all certain skills and attributes to utilize in our lives. Whats Your Function? is motivating and relevant for professionals at any level of their career. It must also be noted that some of the lessons contained within can pertain to life outside of just selecting a career path.

Basko writes in a friendly, mentoring manner and explains that feeling out of sorts or unsure of which direction to head in life can be very common. Most importantly, Basko explains that its even okay to feel this way in order to bring yourself to realize your function in life. Instead of only instructing the reader on what to do, Basko fills the book with questions and assessments in order to really challenge and engage one into action. These tools are set up in a way that allow for discoveries and also roadblocks to be realized and handled. Basko starts each chapter with a motivational quote as well as a Bible verse that pertains to each message in the chapter. Basko acts as an instrument of faith by spreading Gods message to those that need it and his faith is inspiring and uplifting. While the religious connotations may not strike a chord with every reader, the questions and solutions that the book presents are universal. Baskos even, thoughtful writing fills the book with personal stories and anecdotes that allows for the message to come across warmly, rather than as an impersonal self-help book.

Whats Your Function? is a great book for anyone that is at an impasse in their life or career and is looking for a little direction and even hope. Figuring out the individuals function can help people discover answers that they may not have even realized that they were seeking in the first place, which is where this book comes in perfectly. There is much to be taken from Baskos book and the open format allows for the reader to take each lesson to a spiritual, professional or personal level at their own pace.

Wasn't sure if this book would relate to me being "older" but we all have a function until the day we die. Loved it, User friendly and practical. Great gift for someone making a career change or just wanting to feel they are useful or questioning what they can do.
