I have wanted to get this movie for some time, and finally did. I thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end. It is along the lines of Anne of Green Gables, yet entirely different. The story is a good one, and though Katy did get into a lot of mischief, in the end she learned some lessons the hard way, but learned them well. She appears at the beginning as a disobedient child, but I think she is merely full of energy and the desire to do what others don't do. She is one spunky girl. I have watched this a couple of times since purchasing and will watch again, probably many times. I loaned it to a friend, so will see what she thinks of it.
I have the book and liked it so I though this would also be enjoyable. I almost stopped watching this at first, though; it was a bit annoying. The father in the movie is much weaker in his character and Katy just seems like a brat. But after a while it got better and the end made it worth watching.
