    This review was written for He Said What?!: Jesus' Amazing Words to Women.
    After completing 'He Said What?!' by Brenda Poinsett, I was not disappointed.

    As usual, Brenda came through with her intention of pulling out conversations and phrases, which Jesus said to women in scripture, and expanding upon their meaning through giving meaning to words He used as well as Cultural and Traditional practices during Jesus' time on earth.

    I learned that not only did people approach Jesus for help, healing and conversation, but Jesus approached women and helped them, even though they may not of known they even could be helped.

    Two examples of this were the widow whose son was restored to life and the adulterous woman, neither of whom asked for anything, that we know of...It's enough that Jesus knows.

    Through the turning of water to wine conversation with His Mother, Jesus performed His first Miracle, Helped His Mother out and also kept a Bridegroom's family from being culturally embarrassed, while at the same time He brought Glory to His Father GOD, as His Disciples first grasped Who He really was.

    Book Review: He Said What?! Jesus Amazing Words to Women

    POSTED ON DECEMBER 25, 2014 BY LAURA LANGLEY | EDIT

    imageA new release by New Hope Publishers, He Said What?! Jesus Amazing Words to Women by Brenda Poinsett, promises to revitalize the spiritual lives of many women as they spend time exploring Jesus words to many New Testament women.

    In the book, Poinsett looks at what Jesus said to some of the women in the Bible, how He speaks to us today, what He said then, and what He says to us now. Throughout the book, Poinsett makes one thing certainJesus words touch hearts and transform lives.

    Each chapter of He Said What?! includes the story of a womans encounter with Jesus, historical background that helps put the story in context, and insights and lessons drawn from Poinsetts personal study of the various Bible passages.

    Poinsett offers several fresh new insights, even for well-studied readers. For example, when the Syrophoenician woman approached Jesus and asked for help for her daughter (Matt. 15, Mk. 7), of the two distinct words for dog, Jesus used the one for a household pet rather than a rabid stray. Oh, what insight that brings to the story. Dont worry, Ill leave out any spoilers!

    Overall, I found He Said What?! to be an easy and interesting and yet challenging read. I liked the fact that many chapters gave ideas for prayer an application. Because more and more knowledge means were spiritually overweight unless we work it out in daily life.

    Poinsett explores the lives of many women, including:

    Mary, mother of Jesus at wedding in Cana;

    Salome, wife of Zebedee and mother of James and John;

    the Syrophoenician woman;

    the woman caught in adultery; and

    the woman who went to embalm Jesus.

    My one disappointment with He Said What?! was in the chapter on the woman with the issue of blood. Poinsett used a modern-day story about a woman afraid to stand before the church to join the church, saying she could learn a lesson about approaching Jesus with boldness from the woman with the issue of blood. While I realize the book is published by a denominational publishing house (a denomination of which Im a member myself), Im disappointed in the over-emphasis on church membership. While I certainly believe fellowship with believers is of paramount importance, church membership as it is practiced in our denomination is extra-biblical. Im saddened that was presented as the example for practical application for that particular lesson.

    Still, He Said What?! is a great book that offers fresh insight and promises to pour freshness into your spiritual life. I recommend it for individual study as well as small groups.

    * Note: I received a copy of the book from NetGalley for this honest review.
