Tell us a little about yourself. I am a recently retired Elementary Principal of 21 years, and an educator for 38+ years. I am the mother of three and grandmother of one and another on the way.
What was your motivation behind this project? I wrote this book in 1988 when my daughter was in Third Grade as a gift for my Dad. She did 4 of the illustrations then. When it was rejected by a publisher, I folded up her artwork (and you can tell her pages by their creases) and tucked it away until I had an opportunity to help support veterans and their families through Pathways for Veterans. I had my Third Grade students at my school where I was their Principal finish the artwork.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? This is a delightfully illustrated book that will bring to life the sweetest memories of spending time a special Grampa.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? I love that this book is my firstfruits as the proceeds are given to help veterans and their families.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? God is my greatest inspiration. I am so grateful the privilege to co-create with Him!
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: I have also written several other books about bullying and am available to provide workshops and trainings to help parents and teachers work with their children to find their voice and be victims no more to bullying.
