Author/Artist Review

Tell us a little about yourself.  I am a homestead farmer and live with my husband in a house inside a hill in the Finger Lakes district of New York. Although my three books that are presently published are faith-based stories of the heart and soul, I also write stories that have been inspired by my grandchildren, farm adventures, and a wide assortment of imaginings and fancies.

What was your motivation behind this project?  Seeing nature as a window into heaven and as an expression of God Himself, I wanted to write a story that would capture that concept in a way that children could understand. I wrote it for very young children in hopes of helping them discover this connection between the physical world and the spiritual as soon as they began to explore nature.

What do you hope folks will gain from this project?  I pray that the readers of this story will never be able to look at nature the same way ever again; that it will always remind them of its connectedness to the heavenly realms.

How were you personally impacted by working on this project?  As I wrote this book, I spent a great deal of time immersing myself once again in the beauty of the natural world. I was amazed as its ability to renew my spirit and liven my mind. My gratitude to God for His great gift of creation grew exponentially.

Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists?  Many of the favorite books of my childhood were nature based: The Secret Garden, the nature stories by Thornton W. Burgess, and even picture books like Blueberries for Sal, and Owl Moon. These all became a part of the foundation for my writing inspiration.
