Product Description

Release the burden of body-image angst. There's a wave of body dissatisfaction sweeping across society. While bookstore shelves are well-stocked with tomes of how to overcome body image problems, very few take a faith-based, much less Catholic, approach to self-healing.

Weightless: Making Peace With Your Body speaks not only to those who may have faced an eating disorder, but also to anyone who wants to live an abundant life, unencumbered by our culture's obsession with thinness, physical beauty, youth, or food. Personal anecdotes debunk cultural myths about beauty and discussion questions are included for personal or group reflections.

Blame our society for the pressure that it puts on today's children. Kate Wicker takes her experiences of being teased, along with her struggles with the concept of the perfect body and writes of her courageous battle to regain her confidence in herself, with God's help. Prayer, scripture quotes, saintly writings are highlighted and brought to the subject seamlessly. She changes her focus off herself and brings God to the center of her life. A book for all of us, for we all need to center our lives on God, but also this book should be required to be read by girls and young women as part of a class curriculum.
