I was drawn into this amazing conclusion to The Pebble Creek Amish series, as I read the prologue for A Wedding for Julia, book three. A Wedding for Julia was the best in this series. Julia's life long dream of opening a cafe was dashed with the stipulation she had to be married shortly after her father's death. Caleb Zook came to the rescue by offering the solution of them marrying. I loved how the English neighbors, desiring to life a simpler life, stepped up to the plate in assisting Julia and Caleb with the cafe by using their Englisher resources. As the story progresses, I was right in the midst of all the wonderful characters and their trials, dreams fulfilled and faith. Ms. Chapman had a powerful ending to the book as the residents of the Pebble Creek experienced Mother Nature at her worse within a 24 hour period. My mind was filled along with the emotions as residents struggled to survive thunderstorms, a tornado and blizzard. Who and how will the residents survive all that Mother Nature lashed out on them? Pick up the entire series of The Pebble Creek Amish by Vannetta Chapman and fall in love with little Grace in book one to all the other fantastic real to life characters.

Vannetta Chapman has a fabulous talent for diversity in her writing. A Wedding for Julia is a warm and tender account of life at many levels. Several themes are introduced including Amish teen rumspringa, middle age romance, aging, dreams coming to fruition and community. I loved Ada, Julia's mother. She has a Psalm for every situation, and although not quoted directly from the bible the meaning is just the same and so appropriate. Unexpected events tripped me up and caused me to hold my breath. There is no predicting which way this storyline is going to go which makes it unique when compared to many Amish fiction books. The added suspense will keep you turning pages while the clock ticks the hours away!

Grab a copy of this final book in The Pebble Creek Amish Series and enjoy! Although this is a series book, it could be read as a stand alone. I goofed and read the third installment before the second, and had no trouble following the story line. Buy the entire series, however! I read "A Promise for Miriam" when it first released, and can't wait to read "A Home for Lydia!" This series is entertaining, exciting and a beautiful example of life in an Amish community. The author does her homework through indepth research of the Amish communities about which she writes.

In A Wedding For Julia, when I discovered that upon the event of their deaths, Julias parents had made previous arrangements to send their daughter back to their hometown a place shed never been I was a bit irate!

After all, Julia isnt a child shes in her mid 30s!

When I mentioned it to my daughter, whos also in her mid 30s, she agreed with me. She had several unfavorable comments regarding such a ridiculous decision made by parents, who obviously didnt think much of the idea of grown children being able to make their own choices!

However, after considering how I might feel if I thought my only child might be left on her own, I realized that their arrangement made much sense. On the contrary, it makes no sense to not make some sort of plans for your unmarried daughter, who will be all alone in the world. Of course, she had others in the community, but thats not the same at all.

And as I kept reading, I found that Julias parents had made the best choice for their daughter; indeed, she might never have married if not for these arrangements!

Wow! Vannetta Chapman can weave a story!

She did a superb job with this series the different location introduced a group with different problems! It completely took me by surprise! The research Vannetta went through to write this series really brought the characters to life. I was so engrossed nothing seemed to disturb my concentration

Without exposing too much, it is difficult to describe how eloquent and inspirational this story is for readers; I laughed and cried with Julia, Caleb, Sharon and Ada. I was touched by their faith and their devotion to family and friends even their Englisch friends.

Whoa and the major events that take place here Vannetta successfully describes the situation in such detail, I could feel the wind buffeting me, the heat surrounding me, the tension mounting, the loud roar and the terror that Julia and the others were experiencing.

If you havent taken time to read this series, I urge you to do so now you will not be disappointed.

There is so much to like about this book - "old" characters that I have already grown to love, and new ones that I have so much in common with, all set in the gentle world of Pebble Creek. Julia is a 37 year old spinster still living at home with her recently widowed mother, Ada. Like me, she loves to cook and is chronically tidy - and she worries about her shrinking mother who struggles with signs of dementia. She has a dream of opening a cafe...and her mother has a dream of seeing her married! Quiet Caleb Zook makes both of these wishes come true with about 200 pages left to go. What else does Vannetta Chapman have in store for us? The old homestead becomes more than the site of a successful cafe. The Zooks take in a struggling teen-aged relative, and Ada's gifts of prayer and compassion reach another generation. Then a hundred-year storm threatens to undo all the hard work and happiness they have achieved - or will it? With characteristic plot twists and true-to-life emotions, Chapman makes me glad once again to visit Pebble Creek.

t has actually been a little while since I read A Wedding for Julia, but now I am trying to recall things and reading a bit of it again so that I hopefully remember things correctly. I do remember that I really enjoyed this book and that is why I wanted to write about it on my blog.

This book is part of a series of Amish books but was actually the first book of the series that I read. I think that I might need to take some time to read books 1 and 2 because this one was so enjoyable to read.

The main character is Julia Beechy. Her mother, Ada, tells her that she has to marry or move from the family home when she passes. Her mother Ada insists that the house be sold and that Julia moves back to Pennsylvania where relatives are still living. But Julia has lived in Pebble Creek her whole life and had hoped to realize a dream of opening a cafe. Because of her mother's failing health, Julia is very concerned as to what direction her future will lead her. This causes lots of stress and worry for Julia. She is not sure how she will go about changing this situation that her mother unexpectedly caused.

Caleb Zook, who, like Julia, is also getting older than the expected marriage age of the Amish, suggests that they marry in order to help Julia out of this predicament. But Julia is unsure whether she could marry someone she doesn't love even though Caleb is a helpful man, and a very hard worker. As they get to know one another, perhaps some feelings are being kindled that surprise both of them.

A horrible tornado comes to Pebble Creek like has not been seen in this area of Wisconsin in more than one hundred years. The Amish people must now do what Amish people seem to do very well and that is to help their friends and neighbors and pray that all survive the terrible destruction.

The characters, Caleb and Julia seem to mesh together well as they work together after the storm. The community comes together when the need is there, also. As I read this book, I couldn't put it down. I am also grateful to authors such as Vannetta Chapmann who write books of a Christian nature that have good moral values, as well as guidelines for each of us on working together and building strong family relationships. An excellent book! I just loved it! It's a wonderful story and well worth reading!
