Well this ripe old fellow is falling behind I purchased this dictionary after Lord only knows how long I've had it in my wish list here on Christian books,living near a university I've had the opportunity to pick up on some rather extensive dictionaries at second hand stores and the ones I've not given to others I love and use quite often all of them with the exception of a two volume set eight in total some are Bible dictionaries and are mostly more up to date than this this Noah Webster 1828 dictionary and are huge.

They also have one thing in common for the most part and that is that they stayed true to the 1828 Noah Webster,though I did not need this dictionary I really really wanted it for historical value and was not disappointed it is just a beautiful presentation from cover to the paper used,if you are a buff on history and more importantly the history of the man who published this dictionary originally this is a must have to add to your collection.

Its here that I have to admit something,I think I'm becoming addicted to Bibles and Christian related books all together.

Love this dictionary and it's historical connection. We are desperately in need of the values it defines.

This is a great dictionary from old Mr. Webster; I'm truly enjoying it. It's a little different format than we're used to with our modern dictionaries, but a format to which one can readily adjust. I like to use it along with a modern dictionary to get a better understanding of how we arrived at current word usage. It's also an excellent dictionary to use for Bible study.

I am very pleased with this dictionary! Our words and language have changed dramatically. This book is a great aid in reading and understanding scripture. I love the Bible quotes included in the definitions.

The actual dictionary is great! No issues there. How it arrived is where I have an issue. I bought this as a gift for my wife and it was delivered in a box that had WEBSTER'S 1828 boldly printed on the side of the box. No hiding that. Needless to say, my wife opened this present early because she already knew what it was. Sure would be nice if Christianbook understood that some of their stuff may be bought as a gift for someone in the same house as the shipping address.
