Kathy5 Stars Out Of 5Story of the World Ancient Times Test/Answer KeyFebruary 15, 2013KathyQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Story of the World Volume 1 Ancient Times Test and Answer Key is a companion to the "Story of the World Volume 1 Ancient Times from the Earliest Nomads to the Last Roman Emperor" history curriculum. The curriculum is authored by Susan Wise Bauer. She is a faculty member of the College of William and Mary, and co-author of "The Well Trained Mind: A Guide to Classical Education at Home."
The resource is divided into forty-two chapters which correspond to those in "Story of the World Volume 1 Ancient Times." Each test is comprised of the following components: Fill in the blank, multiple choice, true and false, matching, and essay. The author has included "How to Use These Tests and Answer Key" to assist the instructor. This resource is available in the formats of paperback or PDF-download. Based on our experience with this series and the content of the curriculum I would recommend it for Grades 5-8. Overall we have been pleased with Ms. Bauer's approach to world history, and look forward to continuing our study with Story of the World Volume 2 The Middle Ages "From the Fall of Rome to the Rise of the Renaissance."

It may not be necessary for some who make up their own tests, study guides, etc. but it saves time for me.
nataAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Great for discussionsAugust 17, 2011nataAge: 35-44Gender: femaleWe use these as a quiz every day after we read the chapter. Even though we first discuss the reading and do mapping and timeline work, inevitably one of the children gets something wrong on the quiz, which we are able to discuss right then and there. Or we take thr true false and discuss how we could make the statement false or what would make it true. It's just enough work, but gets them thinking before we put history away for the day.

The perforated pages make removal easy. I also think the range of questions (fill-in-the-blank, T/F, multiple choice) gives younger children testing skills.
