I spend much time in the KJV study bible and the Amplified bible. I usually look up verses in easier to read translations as I teach preschoolers at church. I found myself constantly being drawn to the Voice bible and now prefer it over the NLT I usually use in class.

I also have the Message bible, ERV, ESV, Companion Bible, NIV, & Expanded bible but I really enjoy this version as an easy to read companion to my KJV & Amplified Bible! It's very easy to understand the spirit of the Bible passages - that's so important that we get the heart of the message! I find myself reading much farther than I intended because I'm so drawn into the stories. I hope they come out with a wide margin version for note taking.

The $7.99 price is amazing for this hardback. I am ordering another one for my wonderful husband!

If I could give this more than 5 stars I would. I love this bible and how it draws you into the story. I find it hard to put down. Everyone should have this bible in their library! The great price is a nice bonus as well! Buy this bible and you'll be so glad you did!

A few years ago I dismissed T.V. bc of a YouTube video, which objected on the basis of alleged gender-based political correctness. Recently I took a closer look and realized the criticism was baseless. Since then, T.V. has become my favorite version, used alongside primarily KJV, NIV, and few others.

That is, the commentary and emphasis on clarity - the who, where, when, why kinds of explanations fleshing out the context - are massively helpful, and I often feel staggered by the work that must have gone into it.

The language is lovely (rivals the NIV, to be sure),and reads well. (As for the translaters using artists, etc..., kudos. It shows and is appreciated.)

In that sense, and possibly ONLY in that sense (of fluid readability), is it a beginner's Bible. If it has any sort of bias or agenda (and almost every Bible does, it seems), the only place I've seen it so far is in Gen 1, where it clearly takes a position Against the Gap theory, whereas the translaters should have held to vagueness, in that the Gap theory can neither be proved or disproved.. (via the Hebrew).

I don't really follow the contention about a New Age quality to this version, though sure, personally I don't really get using the term "The Eternal", but I suppose it was their best effort to translate "Yehova/Yaweh", etc. - one small reason among many very small reasons why a Voice reader should be grounded in Bible basics.

Stemming from critical reviews, I've read John 1 (always a good litmus test) and the 23d Psalm.., and I don't see the problem, except for those folks who are doggedly devoted to the KJV, who really shouldn't be doing reviews in the first place. After all, John 1 in the KJV is admittedly, observably a bit vague, and T.V. , bless their little hearts, makes it even clearer.

As for quality, they are almost giving these away. Personally - forget leather this, hardbound that - I'd sooner buy the download anyway, bc I like being able to see and scroll through a whole chapter without flipping thru pages. But a hard copy would be great for your doomsday bunker. : )

In short, this version blows me away.
