The Bible says that God has "assigned to you an area of influence" (2 Corinthians 10:13). The question is what will you do with it?
In his newest book VIP, O.S. Hawkins takes readers through what it takes to create a life of Influence--vision, integrity, and purpose. Through inspirational stories, biblical examples, and charged challenges towards greatness, O.S. Hawkins illuminates a path for you to uncover what it is going to take for you to become a VIP.
Following the great success of his books The Joshua Code and The James Code, VIP is the next step on your journey toward the life God has for you.
For more than 20 years, O. S. Hawkins served pastorates at the First Baptist Church in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, and in Dallas, Texas. He is president of GuideStone Financial Resources, which serves 250,000 pastors, church staff, missionaries, doctors, and other workers of various Christian organizations with their retirement needs. He is the author of more than 30 books and preaches regularly at Bible conferences, evangelism conferences, and churches across the nation.

It's a prideful desire that is part of our inheritance from the fall.
But what if we desire to be a Very Influential Person? Using 2 Cor. 10:13, 15 (ESV), Hawkins argues that God has given each of us a specific area of influence where no one can be as effective as we can.
Continuing the use of VIP, he suggests we become people of Vision, Integrity, and Purpose. He writes of the importance of vision in one's life and tells stories of people who inspired others with their vision. Our culture needs people of integrity, he says. He explains how it must be rooted in our private world and will then be reflected in our public world. While every Christian has the general purpose of glorifying God, God wants to reveal a specific purpose for each of us. We must be in relationship with God, sensitive to the Spirit, and know the Word for us to know our individual purpose. Living this kind of life is following the example of Jesus.
Hawkins includes stories of people who have influenced his life in the last quarter of the book.
This little book might be a nice gift for graduation or as one contemplates a career change. It is very readable and encourages us to be influential in those particular areas God has chosen for us.
I received a complimentary egalley of this book from the publisher for the purpose of an independent and honest review.
MichaelIndian Trail, NCAge: 45-54Gender: male4 Stars Out Of 5VIPFebruary 28, 2016MichaelIndian Trail, NCAge: 45-54Gender: maleQuality: 5Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4"VIP" by O.S. Hawkins is a good and quick read addressing 3 necessary areas of a person's life:
The book is around 115 pages and addresses topics such as:
1. People of vision have a lasting influence on others.
2. People of vision know where they are going and how to get there.
3. 4 areas of influence in your life.
4. Integrity is established in our private relationship with God and will be reflected in our public world.
5. Intellect and passion without integrity will not result in lasting influence.
6. The best way to serve God and others is to determine the purpose you were created for.
7. God is more interested in you finding your purpose than you are.
8. 3 important steps in determining your purpose.
9. Be careful of settling in, becoming complacent, and stop dreaming.
10. Seeing a vision come to fruition often takes time.
A great read and appropriate for anyone, regardless of their age or life situation. While I have read similar points in other books, it's helpful to be reminded about our life's focus - it's about God, not us! Will use this as a helpful future reference. Recommended.
