The Very First Christmas Stocking & the Gifts of the 7 Coins by Terry Paul LaFargue is a charming childrens story that tells about the magic and meaning of Christmas. I found it delightful and my favorite little boy enjoyed it and wanted me to read parts over and over again. I gave it five stars.
Gabriel and Gabriella, two angels from heaven arrived at the home of a shepherd family. They gave each member of the family a blank magic coin which would reveal a virtue written on their hearts when they were born. "Gifts from the heart are the best gifts that one can ever give and receive." The family realized these were the perfect gift to take to the baby born on Christmas.
I recommend this story for parents, grandparents, Christian teachers and librarians. Its a sweet story that by yearly reading could add joy to a new family tradition

What was your motivation behind this project? The motivation behind writing The Very First Christmas Stocking And The Gifts of the Seven Coins was because Christmas is the best season of the year. Christmas brings family and friends together celebrate the birth of the Christ child and share friendship and gifts with one another.
Christmas is much more than just another annual holiday, its a family centered experience.
As a child I loved Christmas and later as a dad, I loved Christmas even more as I watched my little one and her friends experience the anticipation, joy, and the excitement as each Christmas season unfolded. It was with these collections of memories that served to inspire me to write this story.
For the children, especially the young children, Christmas is truly a magical adventure they get to experience with their family. Each parent also gets to relive their Christmas memories as they help make memories for their children. This is why I believe Christmas has transcended the test of time.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? My story is about three families who come together on the very first christmas Christmas to share the joys of Christmas and learn the meaning of Christmas. It is my hope my story and book will not only entertain but also serve to elevate the importance of three key elements that make Christmas - Christmas. 1. Elevate the presents of Christ back into Christmas. This is a concern of mine because in my life, Christ has become less a prominent part of Christmas. If it were not for the birth of Christ, there would be no Christmas. 2. Underscore the importance of family. To me life is about family. As a parent I realized raising children is was my most important work. 3.Introduce the seven virtues as reflected in the gifts of the seven coins. The young children learn best in formative years. These seven virtues are the gifts featured in my story as the seven coins. In order to have a successful and rewarding life, we must all learn these virtues and then must learn to give and to receive them in order to bring "Peace and Goodwill to All".
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? Writing the story and creating the book was an awesome experience. I initially set out to write a simple Christmas story about the family experience during the Christmas season. While writing the story, I began to realize it could be much more than another Christmas story but rather one that could tie the secular Christmas with the more modern Christmas. This realization turned writing the story into a mission or purpose of the book. With this idea in mind, I felt the story could become an important Christmas story that the entire family could read annually. Since Christmas has always been about family and never before has a Christmas Nativity story been written about a family's journey to the Nativity, I decided to write a family centered story where three families come together for the event - The Shepherd Family - The Angel Family - Holy Family. The story is told in the book by a mother angel named, Cerina about the time her two children angels, Gabe and Gabriella were sent down from the Heavens to bring special gifts for the baby Jesus and also invite a shepherd family to the Nativity. I let the children characters play dominant roles in the interpretation of the events with the adult parents playing traditional parental roles of guidance and support. After the manuscript was complete I found Kathryn Harper an illustrator who lives in New Zealand. Together we worked for 5 months to create over 100 Disney level illustrations. that depict each step of this first ever Christmas journey. The story ended up including two chapters, the very first Christmas Eve and The very first Christmas Day.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? The sources of inspiration and influences for the story was my history of reading classic Christmas stories and my personal Christmas experiences. I love to read both the secular nativity stories and the more modern Christmas stories that feature situational plots where resolution is found in the lessons the nativity story teaches.
