Author Bio

Jennifer Lamphere has spent most of her adult life on trails: hiking, skiing, biking, and paddling them; building them; and leading young people on them to learn about the backcountry. Since earning her degree in education at the University of Vermont, she has taught at outdoor-oriented schools in Oregon and Vermont, worked for the Appalachian Mountain Club in the White Mountains and the Berkshires, served on the Vermont Trails and Greenways Council, and worked for Northern Forest Canoe Trail in Vermont, helping to establish and edit the first official guidebook and maps that cover the entire 740-mile trail. Jennifer lives in Montpelier, Vermont, where she teaches backcountry skiing and mountain biking when she’s not roaming the woods with her husband and daughter.
