    "And all it took was one person with a vendetta . . . . . ."

Nikki Boyd has worked tirelessly for ten years to solve the mysterious circumstances surrounding her younger sister's abduction and subsequent disappearance, so when another young woman's case eerily mirrors her own, Nikki's extensive training as a member of the Tennessee Missing Persons Task Force forcefully kicks in. Someone is taunting her, dropping clues and mercilessly masquerading evidence. Through it all, one person remains at her side, best friend Tyler Grant.

As Tyler and Nikki combine skills, combat personal regrets, and sense a subtle shift in relationship, a teen-ager's life hangs in the balance while a serial killer remains on the loose. Will a cold case suddenly turn red hot, or will a hot case turn bitterly cold?

Lisa Harris has written an award worthy debut novel in her emerging "Nikki Boyd Files" series; easily earning five stars and making me hope that time passes quickly while we await a summertime sequel.

The day Nikki Boyds' life changed forever was the day her sister Sarah turned up missing ten years ago. It is not something you forget or get over. As a special agent for the Tennessee Missing Persons a task Firce, Nikki now finds people for a living. She likes her job and along the way, she hopes to find out what happened to her sister. The not knowing is the hardest thing to live with. You can let your imagination go crazy, but she needs to stay grounded.

One day while off work Nikki get a call that a girl is missing. With the help of her friend Tyler they start their investigation . As they dig deeper into the case, Nikki finds a link to her sister's case. The question is could this be the same person who took both her sister and the missing girl they are investigating? I loved the action and the twists and turns of the story. The character development is quite good and the intense scenes are a sure way to keep the reader intrigued . It is not a book you want to put down, until the last page is read.

The relationship between Nikki and Tyler is a definite attention grabber. As the story continues, you feel like you are in a maze trying to find your way out. Just as you think you have the mystery figured out, you hit a dead end and the the suspense builds until you find yourself on the edge of your seat . The author has done an amazing job of writing a story that grips you from the beginning and takes you on a roller coaster ride of sheer intrigue at its very best.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher for an honest review.

Lisa Harris is a master (mistress?) of fast-paced suspense, and Vendetta is no exception. Its the first in a new series about Nikki Boyd, a member of the state Missing Persons Task Force, and promises an intriguing story arc across the series: Nikkis own sister, Sarah, disappeared ten years ago and has never been found. Several hints about Sarahs abductionand her kidnapperwere dropped during Vendetta, and I look forward to seeing the progress in this subplot in the next book.

The other thing I look forward to seeing more of is Nikkis relationship with Tyler Grant, the widowed husband of Nikkis best friend, Katie, who died exactly a year before Vendetta begins. There are hints of a developing relationship between Nikki and Tyler (yay! says the romantic suspense fan), and hints of something unknown about Katies accidental death. Tyler is an all-American hero, almost too good to be true except for his doubts about his Christian faith since the death of his wife.

Nikki is also an excellent character: intelligent, brave, and determined to solve both the mystery of Sarahs disappearance, and the current disappearance of Kara, a sixteen-year-old who went for a walk and never came back. Vendetta has a strong plot with plenty of clues and red herrings, and I never guessed who the evildoer was always a good thing.

There were some editing glitches around the dialogue tags, and the end of the novel seemed to come too quickly, but overall, this was an excellent novel and Ill be looking forward to the sequel.

Thanks to Revell and NetGalley for providing a free ebook for review.

Book Summary: No one needs to push Nikki Boyd to excel on the Tennessee Missing Persons Task Force. The case of her own missing sister, still unsolved after ten years, is the driving force in her work. When a Polaroid photo of a missing girl shows up at a crime scene, Nikki quickly recognizes similarities to the past. The closer she gets to the abductor, the more she feels this case has become personal, and she is not the hunter . . . but the hunted. With this explosive first book in The Nikki Boyd Files, award-winning author Lisa Harris takes you on a fast-paced pursuit of justice that will have you holding your breath until the heart-stopping finish.

Review: I really liked this first book in the Nikki Boyd series. The tension between Bridget missing and her own sisters disappearance was fantastic. There was so much that happened in a short period of time. The entire book was edge of your seat thriller. There was just enough down time to catch your breath when something else would occur. The unravelling at the end was fantastic while it played out in a high tension setting. I love a mystery that keeps you going to the end. I can not wait for the next book. I am looking forward to reading more books by Lisa. I really liked all the characters in the book, they seemed real venerable and very sincere. Even the bad guy(s) were realistic!

I would like to thank Net Galley and Revell for allowing me to read and review this book in return for a free copy and I was never asked to write a favorable review by anyone.
