Be swept away to Charleston of 1811, a city bustling with immigrants like Adalia, who is a runaway slave so light-skinned that no one guesses her past. Terrified her secret will be discovered, she settles into a quiet life making herbal remedies for a local doctor. But when Morgan, the handsome son of a prominent family, sweeps her into his glamorous world—a world in which the truth about Adalia’s heritage would ruin them both—suspicions and petty jealousies are aroused. What will Morgan do when he discovers that the woman he has fallen in love with is a runaway slave?
MaryLu Tyndall, a Christy Award finalist and bestselling author of the Legacy of the Kings Pirates series, is known for her adventurous historical romances filled with deep spiritual themes. She holds a degree in math and worked as a software engineer for fifteen years before testing the waters as a writer. MaryLu currently writes full time and makes her home on the California coast with her husband, six kids, and four cats. Her passion is to write page-turning, romantic adventures that not only entertain but open peoples eyes to their God-given potential. MaryLu is a member of American Christian Fiction Writers and Romance Writers of America.
MaryLu Tyndall can bring a character, a scene, a setting to life as few others can. In a few, well-placed words, she sweeps her readers into another time and place, transporting them from their own life into that of someone they might never otherwise have thought about, let alone taken the time to get to know. Veil of Pearls is no exception. This is more than just a nice historical romance. This is a story that will prick your heart and call you to examine your own conscience, as the heroine asks herself just how far she is willing to go to please the man she loves. Will she betray her roots, her ancestors…her very faith…to keep from losing the one who has captured her heart and introduced her to a life she never imagined possible? Aren’t we, as readers, tempted to do something similar at times? MaryLu Tyndall does more than entertain us in this well-written novel; she challenges us…and I applaud her for that.

One can expect two things when they pick up a MaryLu Tyndall novel--endearing characters and a plot that sweeps you away. Hidden within the entertainment is a spiritual message that whispers to the corners of your soul. Give yourself a treat by losing yourself in one of her enchanting stories.
Kim Vogel Sawyer--Bestselling author of My Heart Remembers
Ultimately, although this is a book about slavery it comes across as a swash-buckling romance with hints of Pretty Woman, My Fair Lady and Pirates of the Caribbean. The opening description of Althea’s escape hooks the reader and the novel is a pleasant enough way to pass an afternoon.
Oh my! Seldom has my heart ached more at the turn of a last page. MaryLu Tyndall is simply one of the best in Christian romance today and Veil of Pearls, her finest work yet. A pearl beyond compare, this is a love story that transcends era and class to race your heart and soothe your soul, leaving you breathless and longing for more. Absolutely one of my favorite reads ever!

MaryLu Tyndall tells the beautiful story of how God's love changes hearts, showing that true acceptance comes from knowing Him.

This book stole my heart from the very first page, and still hasn't turned it loose yet! Veil of Pearls will stick with me for a long time.
Amelia found employment with a local Dr. in the early 1800's in Charleston, SC, but if anyone every finds out her secret, who she really is, her quite life as it is now will be over. No one knows she is a part black, runaway slave from Barbados. Things get even worse when she is attracted to the rich and famous, fast life ladies man Morgan Rutledge. But even though Amelia knows that she can't have someone like Morgan, she is so attracted to him she agrees to go out with him anyway, thus bringing on more trouble than she ever imagined.
When I finished reading this book, all I could say was Wow! I love Amelia and I was scared for her so many times in this story because she is such a sweet young lady that was forced to live a inhumane life. The other characters, good and bad, were so real and believable, I don't think I've ever felt I was living the story like I felt with Veil of Perils. The entire book was just amazing. And I can't wait to see what MaryLu has in story for her readers next!
I highly recommend Veil of Pearls if you enjoy historical fiction. I was assure you, this is one book you do not want to miss!

SheriffMAAge: 35-44Gender: female3 Stars Out Of 5It was okayJanuary 21, 2013SheriffMAAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 3Value: 3Meets Expectations: 3A little frustrating to find the inconsistencies through the story. Although the main character was raised as a slave as a young girl, it appeared easy enough for her to cross over to a society she knew little about. Her speech, her mannerism, even the way she interacted with people outside of a society she knew nothing about seamed to be easily accomplished. Not a very credible story. Didn't care for it much.

She has a way of capturing her audience like not too many can do. Veil of pearls is a romance worth having in your hands. It's a tale of discovering who you are regardless of your past. One thing I absolutely love about Mary Lu Tyndall's writing is through her books she some how increases your faith along with her character. This book is one of her best and to say the book was good would be a horrible under statement!! READ IT! I guarantee you won't put it down till you flip the last page!!
