"The Upside Down Kingdom" by Chris Castaldo is another refreshing by various Christian authors on pushing back against a world bent on forcing itself on others and living by ungodly values (manipulation, deception, exploitation, etc.). This title focuses on how the kingdom mentioned by Jesus Christ in the Beatitudes in the biblical book of Matthew, chapter 5.

The author covers many good points, including:

    - While the church has many times displayed God's grace and mercy to the world, it has also misrepresented Jesus Christ and has been a bad testimony.

    - Our selfish and jam-packed lives can keep us from true spiritual transformation found in Jesus Christ.

    - Christians are to be engaged in the world without being negatively influenced by the world.

    - When our eyes are truly opened to God's perspective, we better able recognize injustice and work in the power of the Holy Spirit to bring about change instead of trying to do things in the flesh.

    - The problem of hypocrisy in individual followers of Jesus Christ and also of churches.

The title is well-written, easy to understand, does not hesitate to point out the church's fault from a Christian perspective (instead as one having an axe to grind), relevant to life, and has a good footnotes section for further study.

Recommended and will be read again. I was given a review copy by Crossway in exchange for a fair review and appreciate the opportunity.
