Product Description

Everyone experiences anger, but few of us handle it in a Christ-centered way or know how to help others biblically. We need something better than our own moral efforts and resolutions if we really want to rid our hearts of deep-rooted anger. In this biblically-based, practical guide to anger management, Robert D. Jones focuses on changing the underlying motivations and beliefs of the heart that drive angry behavior. By uprooting these heart problems, readers will learn to handle their anger and see the fruit of thorough and lasting change. Ideal for either personal or group study, this book includes discussion and application questions in each chapter.

Uprooting Anger by Robert D. Jones is an absolute treasure, thoroughly biblical, extremely practical, and well written. Jones tackles a problem—sin—with which every believer must deal and, rather than offer some psychological mumble-jumble, takes the reader directly to the Word of God. The issue of anger is framed and handled as the Holy Spirit intended. As a result, the reader is given biblical instruction and hope.
Uprooting Anger would be helpful for any individual struggling with anger, and who does not at times? It is also highly valuable for use in counseling and as a Bible study. I intend to make use of this volume in all three ways.
I would offer two caveats of a minor nature. First, used as a counseling tool it would take some guidance by the counselor. Just handing this book to most Christians might result in overload. Breaking it down into bite-sized portions will be needed in most cases. Secondly, I would have appreciated a little more insight into dealing with instances in which a person has harmed others unintentionally. For example, an accident in which an individual’s negligence takes the life of a small child. Jones addresses this to an extent in Chapter 8, “Anger Against Yourself,” but I could have used more.
This is a book that will be used in my life and ministry for years to come. “Appendix A,” which offers a number of worksheet assignments, will become a regular staple in my counseling on anger. – Gary Gilley, Christian Book Previews.com
