Tell us a little about yourself. I graduated from Davis College (Johnson City, NY) with a Bachelor's of Religious Education. I'm married to my high school sweet heart. We serve in a local ministry. We have three kids. We have a heart for teens and the miracle of adoption.
What was your motivation behind this project? My motivation was the desperate attempt of a 27 year old who thought she was going to end up a widow. My husband was diagnosed with cancer and given a 40% chance of survival. The book is simply a compilation of the e-mailed prayer requests we sent to friends and family, asking for God's intervention and sharing with them the hope we received in Scripture.
What do you hope folks will gain from this project? HOPE! I pray that people will be challenged to pour their hearts out to God, not necessarily expecting Him to answer as we humanly desire, but boldly approaching Him in faith, confident of His love, and the goodness of His plans. I also pray that people are challenged by this book to walk through hard times both vulnerably and victoriously.
How were you personally impacted by working on this project? As I read and re-read for publication, I was in awe again of how much God delivered us from and the newness of His Word EVERY TIME I read it.
Who are your influences, sources of inspiration or favorite authors / artists? My parents are amazing, as are my grandparents. We were loved and supported through this time by several churches, particularly Kingsley Community Church and Fellowship Church. I have a great group of friends, mentors, and prayer warriors. My favorite authors are Cynthia Heald, Beth Moore, Barbara Mouser & Jennie Bishop. The music of Matt Redman and Casting Crowns was powerful to us during our journey.
Anything else you'd like readers / listeners to know: Our God is so good. I'm not saying that because I "got my way." God DID heal my husband after 21 months of cancer, a lot of surgeries, and a lot of "changed plans." But God is good just because He is good. He sustained me all along the way and molded my heart to desire the things that are on HIS heart.
