Publisher's Description

The veil has been lifted.

Discover the Gospel truth about the most myth-understood woman of the New Testament. Was Mary Magdalene a prostitute? An adulteress? The wife of Jesus? An ancient goddess? Liz Curtis Higgs, best-selling author of Bad Girls of the Bible and Really Bad Girls of the Bible, combines heartfelt contemporary fiction with extensive biblical research to bring to life the real Mary Magdalene of the Bible.

With her own eyes, she saw him.
With her own ears, she heard him.
With her own hands, she touched him.

Unveiling Mary Magdalene
opens with the fictional journey of Mary Margaret Delaney, a madwoman adrift in modern Chicago. Her moving story, closely paralleling the biblical account, is followed by a verse-by-verse study of the first-century Mary Magdalene and her life-changing encounters with the Christ.

"Liz has done it again! What hope and promise this will bring."
—Kay Arthur

"The unforgettable portrait of a courageous woman."
—Rebecca St. James

Unveiling Mary Magdalene by Liz Curtis Higgs is a truly unique Bible study for women about the "other" Mary in Jesus life. It starts with a fiction present-day story about a woman named Mary Margaret Delaney. She is a woman plagued with demons from her past. A "mad woman" living in a house haunted with voices and memories from the past.
Then she meets Jake Stauros from the Calvary Fellowship church. He's different. He doesn't judge her. He seems to see into her heart when he looks at her. Over a period of time, Mary Margaret comes to accept this Jesus that he represents and lets God's light remove the demons of guilt and fear from her life.
Mary's story could be my story (or yours) of the deliverance received when we met Jesus as our Savior. Not only were the demons removed, but we became sisters with each other in God's family. Mary Magdalene is a role model for all women. The Bible she was delivered of demons. Jesus elevated her and all women by reference, and later the apostles' referrals, to her as she and other women ministered to them all.
In the follow-up Bible study, Liz shows how Mary Magdalene has been mis-represented by Hollywood and even some ministers. She also shows the excellent example women have through Mary Magdalene. "Whether you see yourself as a 'woman of influence' or not, God does...But first you have to be set free from your past, released from your demons, filled with the Holy Spirit, and sent by the One who knows exactly where you need to go."
The whole book is riveting reading--from the opening novel to the ending challenge. I highly recommend this book for all women. It would make a great group study or individual study. -- Linda Demorest, Christian Book Previews.com
