This book is pure gold. We all need help understanding and yes, untangling our emotions. Jennie shares some simple steps for getting a handle on our emotions -who knew noticing what is happening in our bodies could be so novel and revolutionary for so many people! Her honesty, vulnerability, and humility that she brings to the table add to the authenticity and validity of the words. This a must read for any human!

"You will never be emotionally healthy outside the will of God."

"Emotions aren't meant to control us. They are meant to inform us. TO alert us. To connect us. To remind us that we're alive. To help us make sense of the world around us."

Often, we are afraid of feelings. We don't want to be too much for people. Trying to be logical appeals to us more than trying to show heart. Reasoning through situations feels comfortable than trying to feel our way through our circumstances.

But what I learned from this book is that by starting with my feelings, I may actually be able to rein in my thoughts more effectively. By taking a step back, I can determine why I am strongly reacting to a situation that should not be that big of deal.

The author provides plenty of examples and circumstances where investigating feelings is helpful. She talks about where she responded correctly and situations where she wishes she would have reacted differently. The book is full of practical advice and relevant material.

What I appreciated the most was the element of faith. This book does talks about acknowledging emotions without letting them control your life. Looking to God for wisdom and insight regarding emotions is the ultimate goal.

So many great quotes in this wonderful book. I ended up listening to it because the narrator is the author. I feel like that added even more life to the book.

I did get an advanced e-copy on NetGalley, but I listened to it as a part of Spotify Premium. All opinions and thoughts are my own.

I am looking forward to this book. I have listened to a podcast about it. I loved GET OUT OF YOUR HEAD about your thought life. I need to untangle my emotions. I was a preachers daughter growing up and was told I had to be an example because everyone was watching me. This caused me to try to hide my emotions. I am hoping to learn to better express myself.

This has been the book I did not know I needed! It is challenging me to sit in some emotions that have been hard this week and helping me to lean harder into the why & into Jesus, to go through them instead of around them! Jennie makes this information practical & helpful!

Jennies honesty and vulnerability will reach ANYONE. I can use this book to help myself grow and become a stronger child of God, but also apply it to my marriage, my parenting, my friendships. This book is perfectly titled!
