Publisher's Description

Everyone has felt stuck at some point in life. Our inertia is gone, momentum is wiped out, and life trudges on devoid of passion. But God has so much more than this planned for his daughters. With passion and enthusiasm, Pat Layton invites women to imagine their world unstuck--a place where they feel at peace with the past, find purpose in the present, and revel in the possibilities that the future holds. With her rousing Unstuck Manifesto, she delves deep into the areas readers get stuck in the most--relationships, finances, ministry, career, and more--and, with the Scriptures as her guide, unveils the path to positive forward movement.

    LIFE UNSTUCK Pat Layton

I loved the illustration for this book! Great job-it really fit the title. It reminded me of two of my Cousin's very creative Business solution...a fond memory.

The title was interesting to me because of impacts/impasses pressuring the economics...

I found the Authoress has an energetic style, and speaks to the four ministry styles she identifies, probably in the way she would speak to them in person.

Did you ever yank on a high heeled shoe? If you don't pull too hard, no one gets hurt and you usually get a laugh.

But I'm not one of the persons in this book, and maybe the way it was said, is exactly how they would need it said, in the privacy of this book between the Writer and the Seeker.

But I didn't read the whole book. I stopped after the third "ouch!", for three of the ministerial types. I felt I could clearly feel the Authoress's impatience, frustration, and anger with certain ministerial types, but it could be a holy zeal. But about the time I started feeling sorry for the two ministerial types least picked on, and begin thinking how embarrassing it would be to be them, knowing we all have room for growth...I felt I could feel the sympathy, and the pressure building in them if this were in a natural group setting... but I will give it another try. If I need to update my review, I'll post it on my Blog.

Read this book, and decide for yourself. I think there are ministerial types, but you might need some comfort food, especially if you agree with the Authoress.

    SUMMARY:

God doesn't intend for us to be stuck in life, He wants us to live life unstuck. By allowing the past to dictate the future, a life full of blessings may be missed. Reminding us that today will be the past by tomorrow, Pat Layton shares how to "unstuck" our lives by dealing with the past (unstuck love, unstuck forgiveness, unstuck light), enjoying the present and embracing the future.

    A PENNY FOR MY THOUGHTS:

What an inspiring notion...living life to the fullest unstuck! From the catchy cover to the interwoven creative theme throughout, Life Unstuck shares such an important message in a non-threatening, encouraging and compassionate manner. I appreciated all the personal stories, scriptures, truths, hand-holding, Biblical stories and especially the Manifesto at the beginning of the book (to be re-read over and over until the message sticks). Perfect for a Bible study, women's ministry, book club or a personal up-lifting, Life Unstuck delivers a much-needed lesson to enjoy God's grace in life, unstuck from what prevents happiness and worth. Well done!

Women tend to be stuck. Stuck in their routines and stuck in their spiritual lives. There are a lot of factors that can cause us to be stuck. So the author has taken an in-depth look at some of these factors and written how to un-stick our lives so we can live life to its fullest potential. If we can become unstuck in life we will behave, think, and react to life differently.

I love this cover. It captures the essence of the book while grabbing my attention. The author starts out with a hilarious story about herself and quickly draws the reader in. She then proceeds to get right to the heart of the matter and lays out exactly what being stuck is all about. I loved her writing style, presentation, and personal stories. The book felt like it was written just for me. But I think most women will feel this way as well. It was helpful, insightful, and inspiring. I will definitely be sharing this book with my small group.

I received this book free of charge from Revell Reads in exchange for my honest review.

Life Unstuck, by Pat Layton, is a great book that I recently finished reading. Although I read more than 1 chapter per sitting, it would work well to read each chapter as a devotional in the mornings. There are four main sections in this book entitled Just Imagine Life Unstuck, Peace with the Past, Purpose in Your Present, and Passion for Your Future. Each chapter starts with a Bible verse that relates to the reading. I also really liked how there were sidebars in each chapter that had things like a personality test and Bible verses or steps to follow to reach a particular goal.

Another thing I really liked about this book was the fact that it relates to a website. In the final section of some of the chapters there are links to additional readings that relate to the topic covered in the chapter. Anyone who is looking for a new devotional will enjoy reading this book!
