Product Description

In March 2005, Ashley Smith made headlines around the globe when she miraculously talked her way out of the hands of alleged courthouse killer Brian Nichols after he took her hostage for seven hours in her suburban Atlanta apartment. In this moving, inspirational account, the twenty-seven-year-old widowed mother of a six-year-old girl shares for the first time the little-known detals of her traumatic ordeal, and expands on how her faith and the bestselling book The Purpose Driven Life helped her survive and bring the killer's murderous rampage to a peaceful end.

This is an incredible story that has many lessons we can all benefit from. Although a hostage, the young woman felt God's presence and guidance throughout the ordeal and as a result, she found true freedom. Some small parts were repetitive, but she can't stress enough the miraculous way the whole situation played out. If the story were being told in fiction, everyone would say it's just too unbelievable. Many thanks to Ashley Smith and everyone who prayed for her and helped make this book a reality.

I really enjoyed this book. She had a terrible experience and she knew the Lord was with her and He helped her through it. She was able to help someone else too. I followed up after reading the book and saw more of the case on-line and could see the man's sentencing online. Very interesting. I wonder how he is now.

As others have said, there is more repetition in this story than I would consider necessary, but being somewhat of a speed reader, I just skimmed those parts. But it is a wonderfully open and honest story about God using a regular person, plus the hurts from their past, to reach another hurting person. She readily admits her failures and mistakes, and yet God uses her anyway... the way God delights to use each one of us who will give ourselves to Him. Inspiring story!
