Rejection often finds its way into our hearts at an early age. Perhaps as a child you were teased mercilessly for your hair or clothes, or you received an injury and couldn't play the sport you loved and had to watch from the sidelines, or maybe like Lysa TerKeurst, an adult who should have cared for you and nurtured you, left without explanation. These wounds dig deep into our sense of self, and can resurface in surprising ways as an adult. However, this doesn't have to be the end of the story.
In Uninvited, Lysa shares honestly from her own struggles with rejection and gives readers concrete truths to combat the lies our old Enemy hurls our way. You can stop feeling left out, because even when you are overlooked by others, you are handpicked by God. You can change your tendencies to either fall apart or control the actions of others by adopting healthy ways to process your hurt. You are designed for a love without limits, a love that will never let go.
Through November 24, 2016, free with your order of Uninvited, you'll receive a pdf download of Lysa Terkeurst's "The Declaration." Available after purchase.

The enemy wants us to feel rejected . . . left out, lonely, and less than. When we allow him to speak lies through our rejection, he pickpockets our purpose. Cripples our courage. Dismantles our dreams. And blinds us to the beauty of Christs powerful love.
In Uninvited, Lysa shares her own deeply personal experiences with rejectionfrom the incredibly painful childhood abandonment by her father to the perceived judgment of the perfectly toned woman one elliptical over.
With biblical depth, gut-honest vulnerability, and refreshing wit, Lysa helps readers:
- Release the desire to fall apart or control the actions of others by embracing God-honoring ways to process their hurt.
- Know exactly what to pray for the next ten days to steady their soul and restore their confidence.
- Overcome the two core fears that feed our insecurities by understanding the secret of belonging.
- Stop feeling left out and start believing that "set apart" does not mean "set aside."
- End the cycle of perceived rejection by refusing to turn a small incident into a full blown issue.
"Lysa has done it again! You absolutely won't be able to put down this book. It's compelling from the first page to the last. With her trademark vulnerability, Lysa lays out a heart-felt means to managing the fears, rejections, insecurities and unsteadiness we all experience. Trust us when we tell you that you've never read a book like this before. Don't miss out. We simply can't recommend Uninvited enough." -Drs. Les & Leslie Parrott, #1 NYT best-selling authors of Saving Your Marriage Before It Starts
"Lysa TerKeurst has an undeniable gift for sharing her heart's struggles in ways that strengthen and equip the lives of others. I can't remember the last time I read a book with so many insights into human nature and even more gold nuggets of biblical truth. Don't miss this book-it will bless you more each time you read it!" -Chris Hodges, Senior Pastor, Church of the Highlands, Author of Fresh Air and Four Cups
"This book is a MUST READ. Lysa speaks beautifully yet prophetically to a culture that uniquely is able to see what our friends are eating, playing, doing, and planning at any moment with the little device in our pocket. My favorite part is that Lysa turns our eyes to what's most important though, and that is the great invitation we have to sit at the table with the Living God who has been for us from the beginning." -Jefferson Bethke, author of Jesus>Religion and It's Not What You Think

This one's subject is one that I can relate to very well: life experiences using the words: left out, discarded, left behind, not wanted come to mind. I found parts of this book related to me and my life..the best chapter is the one "why rejection hurts so much". I would give this book more stars; BUT I kept reading about Lysa's thighs, her 'thigh gap', all too often..Please, save these phrases for your Crave book/study guide!! Another phrase was "picking at my hangnails until they bled"..that could have been left out, too. Otherwise..okay.
Nancy Beach4 Stars Out Of 5When Rejection HurtsNovember 28, 2016Nancy BeachQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 5Rejection hurts.
Nobody likes rejection. Ever.
How do you move from hurt to wholeness? As the years go by, I realize more and more it is a process, not a moment. Sometimes I wonder if I'll ever be there - but then I look back a decade or two and can celebrate the progress. I recently read an excellent book on the subject. In Uninvited, Liza Turkerst's new book, she shares her story of rejection and her journey to wholeness.
Here are a few of my favorite quotes from the book:
"My identity must be anchored to the truth of who God is and who He is to me."
"I had the truth. But I had not applied the truth. Therefore, my mind did what my feelings wanted."
"It's not deciding in my mind, I deserve to be loved. Or manipulating my heart to feel loved. It's settling in my soul, I was created by God, who formed me because He so much loved the very thought of me. When I was nothing, He saw something and declared it good. Very good. And very loved."
"Which has really gotten me to thinking about all the many times I assign thoughts to others that they never actually think. I hold them accountable to harsh judgments they never make. And I own a rejection from them they never gave me."
"Rejection isn't just an emotional feeling. It's a message that alters what you believe about yourself. And the minute you sense that happening is the minute you must stop the runaway thinking with truth."
"Think about why it hurts so much when other people say or do things that make you feel rejected. Isn't it in part due to the fact they just voiced some vulnerability you've already berated yourself for?"
I am learning to replace the hurt with truth. And to no longer live in bondage to others words but live in the wholeness of who I am in Christ.

mommashrull5 Stars Out Of 5UninvitedNovember 17, 2016mommashrullQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0So relatable! Every woman has felt this way at some point. Thank you Lysa TerKeurst for being so authentic and showing that even the Proverbs 31 woman has had to go through insecurity and rejection to be drawn closer to Jesus. To know that when Jesus, himself was rejected and betrayed, He drew closer to His Father. This book has great insight to the feelings we all often feel, but don't talk about. Wonderful book!
Nika5 Stars Out Of 5Feel like this book was specifically written for meNovember 12, 2016NikaQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This book was absolutely a Godsend. It came at a horrible time in my life when my pastor & fellow leaders refused to listen to my concerns and cast me aside instead of working it out. I lost my ministry at that time as well as most of the "friends" that I had at that church. It was incredibly painful. But this book lifted me up & helped me see the situation and myself as God sees it. I am forever grateful for the author's message of healing.
bookwomanjoanOak Harbor, WAAge: 55-65Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Best book I've read on healing rejectionNovember 8, 2016bookwomanjoanOak Harbor, WAAge: 55-65Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5This is, by far, the best book I have ever read on rejection. TerKeurst writes from experience. Her depth of empathy is refreshing. The practical suggestions she gives are inspiring.
There are many who feel they have been rejected by their father and this book is specifically great for this issue. TerKeurst is painfully honest with her own contemporary feelings and their roots in past experience. Those who have experienced rejection with certainly relate.
While that aspect of the book is great, TerKeurst's sharing of how she has been working through her feelings of rejection is even better. She includes suggestions for healing that come from her own journey. I was particularly struck by her ten days of prayer. As one who felt rejected by a parent, I really identified with them.
I initially listened to this book on audio. Ginny Welsh's reading of the book was great. She expressed well the feelings conveyed by the written words. She is the best narrator of a book I've heard this year (and I go through over twenty books on audio annually). I listened to the book while walking but was so struck by the importance of the content I had to get myself a copy I could read.
I highly recommend this book to those who have experienced rejection and are ready to work their way through to healing.
I received a complimentary digital copy of this book from the publisher. My comments are an independent and honest review.
