Mrs ARS4 Stars Out Of 5A helpful look and aproach to becoming healthyJuly 13, 2016Mrs ARSQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Unhealthy Anonymous by Dr. Pete Sulack was a very interesting read on how we can get healthy and stay healthy. He provides a 12-step program to help us to achieve our goals on becoming healthy. There was some really great information in this book and everything was explained well. I learned some things I had not known before about stress and I really liked how he stated that our current crisis is because we are trying to fix the symptoms of stress. Instead we should be trying to focus on making our amazing wonderful bodies work better for us by being healthy: building it up by feeding it actual healthy food, limiting stressors like (and this one surprised me) noise pollution. Within my own household there is always something on in the background: tv, radio, electronics, you name it.
To be honest at times when reading this book and similar I feel like it is so much to take in and I become overwhelmed with it all. However, this book is a great resource and gives basics and guidelines on where to start. I, like most people, want to lose weight, exercise more, and just feel better and this book was a great resource in helping me see how harmful stress really is and some ways to eliminate or deal with it.

In this book, Dr. Pete Sulak, a leading stress expert, shares 12 easy-to-follow steps that he says will transform your health, your body, and your energy. I enjoyed the wealth of information that is shared, as well as the manner in which it is presented. The information contained in this book will encourage and challenge you to rethink your daily decisions and make changes in your life. Unhealthy Anonymous is a beneficial book and a recommended read for those who want to improve their overall health!

It is well worth reading.July 22, 2015Cindy JQuality: 0Value: 0Meets Expectations: 0In Unhealthy Anonymous, author Dr. Pete Sulack lays the groundwork for a healthier way of living for anyone willing to make a few modifications or adjustments. This book is not, however, about weight loss or dieting; it is about improving overall health which typically will, in turn, result in any necessary weight loss. Twelve steps to a healthier, happier life are presented in separate chapters which give statistics and scientific research. Also scattered throughout are sections titled Wake-Up Call which highlight startling facts. Evolution vs. Revolution sections show step by step how to transition from where you are to where you should be. Inspirational stories are included from individuals who came to Dr. Pete with serious health problems, yet have followed this program and significantly improved their health.
I really enjoyed this book and the premise of whole body health rather than the presentation of another fad diet whose only goal is to lose weight. The ideas presented are well worth reading.

Unhealthy Anonymous Exposing the Greatest Threat to Your Health and Happiness is made up of twelve steps to silence stress systematically by using a new paradigm of health balancing proper nutrition, attitude, rest, and movement. Dr. Pete Sulack introduces homeostasis as a process to fight disease by maintaining a state of balance in the internal system with the interaction of the body as a whole.
Illustrations from people who have benefited from their association with Unhealthy Anonymous exemplify the importance of: identifying our stress, the advantages of connecting with others, and choosing the right strategies. I found the wake up calls within each chapter to be very enlightening as reinforcements of the specific step being addressed within the chapter.
The book helped me get a new perspective and deeper understanding of the importance of genetics, the environment, detoxifying and the significance of incorporating organic foods in the diet, and their impact on neutralizing the stress that destroys health.

The book contains twelve chapters, with each one broken down to cover a specific topic pertaining to being healthy. Some of the topics are common sense ones, such as "rest" and "exercise." While others like "detox" and "align," were foreign to me. Each topic is clearly explained with ways to improve our lives, allowing us to be healthier and stress-free.
Dr. Sulack uses an easy to read writing style with examples that make sense. I like how he explained the environment we live in verses our genetic code. He recognizes that we all have genetics, but we don't need to let them rule us, sometimes by changing the way we eat, drink or rest we can change the way our bodies react to outside stimuli. He focuses a lot on reducing our stress levels and explains why it is so important to eliminate as much stress from daily living as possible.
This is a clean, easy to understand book filled with good information about caring for ourselves. He reminds us to take it one step at a time. No one gets off the couch and runs ten miles...first you start by walking a bit, then increase the distance.
