Daniel5 Stars Out Of 5A Great BuyFebruary 7, 2013DanielQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4Lysa TerKeurst shares moments of her daily struggles with us, welcoming us to an intimate and warm perspective to the problems that are encountered everyday. She then connects her struggles to those like ours and then addresses these issues using biblical sources, and provides practical solutions to these problems.
Lysa is able to express emotions and problems in an honest and transparent format that engages the audience, and influences change for the better. Even more so, Lysa is able to emphasize the application of biblical truths for our contemporary lives.
However, Lysa only addresses females in regards to this topic of emotions. Though there is no biblical support for the difference of gender in regards to emotions. When the Bible advises us to guard our heart, it does not mention gender.
Bethany4 Stars Out Of 5Great book!February 3, 2013BethanyQuality: 4Meets Expectations: 5Are you familiar with Lysa TerKeurst? She is the President of Proverbs 31 Ministries. I read her other book Made to Crave. I had heard about her new book Unglued but have not read it. Today I'd like to share with you the Unglued Devotional.
This book has 60 devotionals that are a 2-3 pages each. They are easy to read in a short amount of time and are extemely relevant for every day life. I like the idea the author presents that we are not going to be perfect but that we can make "imperfect progress." I recommend this book to you. The devotionals here made me think about my own reactions to situations in our home and in relationships. I also enjoyed how each devotional had a "thought for the day." I hope you will check this out and be encouraged as I was.
Thank you to Zondervan for providing this book for my honest review.

Kris BushOrlando, FLAge: 25-34Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5January 29, 2013Kris BushOrlando, FLAge: 25-34Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4Now I'll be honest this book is aimed to help all women however as a mom of two aged 5 and 19 months it appears this book was written JUST FOR ME. I don't know of one mom who can honestly say she's never come unglued. That she hasn't had the one heart wrenching meltdown. That she hasn't had that bathroom cry because you're tired and overwhelmed and in need of some serious "grownup time." I would be lying if I said this has never happened to me. Honestly, this has happens to me probably once a week. I may have a meltdown and yell because I'm irritated. Or I may have to put the kids down for a nap early because I feel overwhelmed and I feel the frustration rising.
(Disclaimer: I received this book, Unglued Devotional, for FREE from the publisher in exchange for my HONEST review. All of the words above are my own opinion.)
Adoption MamaTampa, FloridaAge: 35-44Gender: female4 Stars Out Of 5Great Start to the DayJanuary 24, 2013Adoption MamaTampa, FloridaAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 4Meets Expectations: 4Lysa Terkeurst is an author whose books I have read in the past. I am thankful for her new devotional that has come out recently.
Unglued is an easy to read, yet challenging daily devotional that addresses topics such as contentment, control, trust, and keeping the right perspective. These are all things people, especially women, struggle with. She does a great job of reminding us of the truths from God's Word, yet acknowledging the constant pull we feel from the world and the world's systems.
As a mom of four children, three of whom are teenagers, there are many days in which I feel completely overwhelmed. Unglued, if you will. This devotional has helped me in many ways to reexamine how I respond to daily choices as well as the deep valleys of trial and despair.
Again, Mrs. Terkeurst has used her gift of writing to lift up the weary souls of fellow women, moms, wives, sisters and friends.
