Have you ever felt like an underdog? Like you dont have the ability or confidence to pursue your dreams? The Bible is full of ordinary people the world considered underdogs. Yet God chose them to do his work.
In God of the Underdogs, pastor Matt Keller tells his own story of being an underdog as well as the stories of the underdog heroes in Scripture. Men and women like Moses, Esther, King David, Samuel, Joseph, Paul the Apostle, and even Jesus. The stories and scriptures youll read will inspire you to face down the excuses holding you back, and you will be free to pursue your destiny as never before!
Maybe youre thinking, My past is too dark. "But its your past," Matt assures you. God of the Underdogswill show you that the Creator of the universe wants you to accomplish great things for him. He wants to use your life in a way he will use no one elses. Dont shrink back from your destiny; lean into it. The Bible says you are a friend of God. Beloved. Highly esteemed. Known. More than conquerors. God sees your potential. It is your inability, not your perfection, that makes you an underdog worth using in Gods eyes. So rise up, underdog! God has a special plan for your life.

Its the read.
I think all of us will likely or mostly feels underdog and Matt Keller has its finest way to overcome it, I'm warning you, you might wanna put it down unless you finished reading it. Matt shows how God is greater and then shows us how we can apply our faith in God to each situation. As one reads the book, we get to know both the author and the Author, better. I love the Biblical content of each chapter. Keller details the "underdog" stories of David, Paul, Jacob, John the Baptist, Jesus, Mephibosheth, Gideon, Esther and Moses, and Keller's excellent (and often colorful) exegesis of these narratives makes this a book worth reading and passing on to others.
I did receive this book for free from Booklookbloggers.com in exchange for a fair review. I have received no compensation or pressure to give this book a positive review; I have done that on my own free will. I would give it three and a half stars ou

Using examples straight from the Bible, Keller addresses the different types of excuses each person had and how God intervened to turn things around for them. Many of these excuses are the same ones we are all tempted to claim from time to time.
The author shares candidly about his own experience of feeling like an underdog. Keller and his wife left the comfort of their hometown to pursue the vision God had put in their hearts - to go to a different state and start a new church, but the people who should have supported them didn't. Matt Keller knows firsthand what it feels like to be disappointed and let down by leaders and mentors who should've been there to encourage him in pursuing God's vision for his life. His experience has uniquely equipped him to be an encourager to all those who feel like an underdog. So get ready to put your faith to work and kick those excuses to the curb so you can go out and make a difference in the world too!
God's timing, calling and blessing make all the difference in the life of a so-called underdog. When you trust God to use your past for something good and refuse to allow labels from others to hold you back, you can accomplish great things for the kingdom of God. Your purpose and potential is not lost on God and He'll open the doors when the time is right. Until that time, trust Him and be faithful right where you are!
When you feel like the odds are against you, just remember that God is on your side and you too can become a hero. The bottom line is God has gifted you, called you, and qualified you to fulfill a specific vision and purpose in your generation. If you're feeling like an underdog and want some encouragement, I highly recommend God of the Underdogs by Matt Keller.

mojoTexasAge: 35-44Gender: male3 Stars Out Of 5This book is a great pick-me-up locker-room talkNovember 4, 2013mojoTexasAge: 35-44Gender: maleQuality: 3Value: 3Meets Expectations: 3Matt Keller is the pastor of Next Level church in Florida. Matt is also a blogger and a highly sought after speaker, his new book God of the Underdogs is a look at how we have all felt at one time or another when the world seems out to get us.
Haven't you ever felt like that? Like nothings goes your way, you're always picked last, everyone else seems successful, but when it's your turn to step to the bat - your ball always fowls out? In this book, Keller shares his own journey of "not measuring up" all the while mirroring that tale with biblical heroes like David, Esther and Joseph.
In nine chapters Keller teaches you that God has big plans for you, just like he did the heroes of the bible. We all have our excuses for why we are lagging behind, Keller teaches that we're in good company when we feel like "it's all for naught" but that isn't our cue to give up, rather it's our confirmation that God is behind us - urging us on.
Keller's book is a light and easy read - certainly nothing earth shattering or too deep. At many times it felt like a sermon series that had been converted to book form; which is fine there is certainly an audience for that. I found that I was wishing for more "every day" application, but that's just me.
This book is a great pick-me-up locker-room talk, and would certainly be a great gift for someone who might need a boost.
Thank you to Thomas Nelson for a review copy in exchange for a fair and honest review.
