Mary BearKentuckyAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Enjoying this map collection!!!January 23, 2015Mary BearKentuckyAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4I purchased Uncle Josh's Outline Maps CD-ROM to go along our Trail Guide of World Geography. The maps are excellent and there is a large selection of them. I believe that any map you might need will be found in this collection! I give it 5/5 for Quality and Value, but a 4/5 for Expectations because map numbers next to the map names would be of great help. When the Trail Guide says we need North America map OMB39 (Outline Map Book page 39), the page number would have made it easier to find, as it would for other maps. It isn't a big deal, but something they might want to consider adding. Overall, a terrific product that I'm really glad we purchased!!! I highly recommend it!
Elizabeth ConleyNewport News, VAAge: 45-545 Stars Out Of 5Excellent Map Collection - Easy to UseSeptember 10, 2013Elizabeth ConleyNewport News, VAAge: 45-54Quality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I had mild trepidation when ordering this item, because the reviews suggested that a previous buyer had a great deal of difficulty using the software. As soon as it arrived I put the disk in my laptop and ran the autorun.exe file. The programs ran immediately and flawlessly. I am currently using Windows 7 on this computer. I asked various other members of the household to run it on their computers. (Some had newer versions of Windows, some had older versions) No one had any problems initiating the program, accessing the Adobe file of maps or printing.
I was very pleased with the map collection. I've been homeschooling for about six years, and making do with maps gleaned from the internet. At first the thrill of the hunt made this bearable, but this year the challenge got to be a bit much for me. Since I had a tiny bit of cash left over in my curriculum fund, I splurged on this disk. It is full of the very types of maps I had previously counted as rare trophies from my internet hunts. They had exactly the right amount of detail to make them optimal for educational use.
The only thing I did not like about this map collection is the lack of a table of contents. I have a little extra time today, so I'm going to spend a half hour or less making myself a table of contents to tuck in the cd case. It's a minor flaw, and easily remedied. I've done this many times before for other adobe file collections of black-line reproducibles. I don't know why, but it seems this is a near universal flaw.
In general, I encourage homeschooling parents to buy this cd. Most homeschooling families will get many years of use from this map collection. It would also be a blessing to co-op social studies teachers.
AnnetteAge: 45-54Gender: female1 Stars Out Of 5Doesn't work on newer computers.February 14, 2012AnnetteAge: 45-54Gender: femaleQuality: 2Value: 2Meets Expectations: 1I had high hopes for this software and I think it can do a great job if they would update it. We have had nothing but problems trying to print out maps (from it jamming my computers to not printing at all, which is what usually happens). We have Windows XP, Vista and Windows 8. It doesn't matter which computer we use. I have tried printing from them all. I finally gave up and told my kids to forget mapping this school year. The CD was designed too long ago and Uncle Josh needs to update his product. I am very disappointed.

Lisa5 Stars Out Of 5October 11, 2008LisaThis is a terrific geography resource! The CD works fine on Mac OSX. I love being able to print out what I need without needing to photocopy or scan a book. The only reason I gave it 4.5 stars instead of 5 is that it was a little confusing at first to figure out how to print out just one particular map, since it comes up as one gigantic pdf, with each map being a separate page. I finally realized that I simply needed to select the proper page to print in the print screen (for example, when you choose the map of North America, you can see at the top of the screen that it is page 42 of 352, so in the print screen I needed to tell my printer to print page 42 only). Maybe instructions are somewhere on the CD, and maybe doing this is obvious to everyone else, but I had to figure it out! Other than that minor thing, I'm really pleased with this product & think it's well-worth the cost.
