"Knowing Lecrae's unique story and gifts, this book has been a long time coming and is essential to not only those interested in his music and hip-hop, but also those wanting to better understand the intersection between faith and culture and what it looks like to be in the world but not of it."
Matt Chandler, lead Pastor of The Village Church, President of the Acts 29, author of The Mingling of Souls
"This is an artistic coming-of-age story with all the brokenness and beauty of our American reality and our Christian hope. It's not just the story of how a boy became a man, or how a lost soul found faith, but how an artist found his voice. There's so much here for those who care about the intersection of deep faith with great art. Lecrae is showing the rest of us how it is done."
Andy Crouch, executive editor, Christianity Today, author of Culture Making
Joshua DuBois, spiritual advisor to President Obama, author of The President's Devotional, and founder of Values Partnerships
"From extreme humble beginnings to what many would describe as a dream platform, Lecrae puts his journey in perspective. He recognizes all too well the identity crisis and this generations need to be unashamed of the gospel. I recommend this book for whomever is interested in seeing how God is authoring the journey of a fatherless generation in need of the navigator."
Eric Mason, lead pastor, Epiphany Fellowship, author of Unleashed
"Honest. Rare. Freeing. Lecrae is one of the most talented people I know. His story will leave you inspired and challenged. Unashamed reminds us just how powerful the Gospel is. Jesus turns our scars into our stories. This is a story you will want to read!"
Louie Giglio, Passion City Church / Passion Conferences, author of The Comeback
Nancy Pearcey, author, Total Truth and Finding Truth

I consider myself as one of Lecrae's biggest fans (if not the biggest), so I know pretty much everything about him, yet this book really delves deep. Nothing is hidden, and the honesty just makes you appreciate the man behind the music and how far God has brought him.

His honesty made me wince, cringe and cry. He fully shares his story, every ugly and beautiful detail. This book will help you understand how important even the ugly parts of your story are. Most importantly, he tells us repentence is a life long act. As he said in his book, when a baby falls, we comfort him, then cheer him on as he tries again. What a perfect analogy of the life every Christian needs to have for themselves and other believers. You will be touched, challenged and have your eyes opened to truths in a fresh and profound way.
willard7775 Stars Out Of 5Unashamed by Lecrae MooreJune 4, 2016willard777Quality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5I first saw Lecrae in concert at the Maybee Center in Tulsa in 2012. I'd never heard of him before; and I love contemporary Christian music. The strong message in his songs, the music, and his gifted way to proclaim the message of Christ through hip hop style music - well the crowd was filled to overflowing from the blessings of his ministry and his ministry gift. I soon bought his cd's and I've really never been the same since. He's a part of the body of Christ that has so blessed and touched me. It showed me God can bring something good out of a bad thing - I'd always considered all hip-hop music as bad or evil. I bought and listed to almost of all Lecrae's music cd's. He quickly became my favorite Christian artist and still is.
So I was very excited about purchasing and reading his book. I bought it and read it in 7 days (that's fast for me). I did not realize that many of his songs were birthed out of true, real life experiences he's had. I should have known that.
Anyway, I loved the book. It is, like his songs, very articulate, easy to read, his writing like his lyrics has a rhythm to it! I strongly recommend the book for anyone who likes Christian music. It is a book where Lecrae is very open about his past mistakes even as a Christian. And it goes on to say how he learned from his mistakes, and has learned to hear from God, and fear and follow God in the decisions he makes. I will read it a second time soon. I strongly recommend giving this as a gift to those you're trying to influence to Christ too!
Thanks Lecrae for being transparent with the Body of Christ. Thanks for obeying your heavenly Father. I pray that God will continue to use Lecrae to bring the light of Jesus Christ to the dark places in this world.
