Nan5 Stars Out Of 5Great BookApril 1, 2015NanQuality: 4Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5Have always loved the writings of Patsy Clairmont. Her humor, sprinkled in among wonderful spiritual insight, just keeps me wanting to read more and more. Down-to-earth common sense, reminders of God's promises and just enough comedy makes her writing the most enjoyable of any Christian author. Have bought several copies of this book to give as gifts. Yes, the paper quality could be better. And although I am not sure who is responsible for this, the pronouns referring to our Lord are not capitalized! Just a "pet peeve" of mine!

I think I was caught off guard by how much I enjoyed it. Author Patsy Clairmont has created an invaluable resource full of wisdom and advice every woman I know could utilize. I feel like have had tea with a dear friend and she has listened to all my worries and frustrations and given me truth for what ails me.
A good sign that a book is a fast favorite is the need for a highlighter. Even as I read the first few pages of the introduction, I found my self underlining and dog-earing pages to return to! In Twirl, Patsy Clairmont gives the tools needed to jump off the merry-go-round of life. She not only nails down the problem of busyness, but offers so many practical solutions. I have read so many books that tell me I am too busy or missing the big picture. Very few of those books offer advise on how to slow down and relish the day-to-day. My favorite chapter is entitled "Edit." Edit is officially my motto for 2014. I will listen more and talk less. I will give advice only when I have been asked for it! I want to be the woman Patsy describes in the introduction, "There is something about a sane person who has a pulse on her life, one who is setting healthy limits, who is winsome, enviable, and honorable."
I was given a complimentary copy of Twirl by its publisher and BookLook Bloggers in exchange for an honest review. I have not been compensated and all opinions are my own.
Jen PenMidwest5 Stars Out Of 5Full of inspiration...April 23, 2014Jen PenMidwestQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 5SUMMARY:
Who doesn't love a good twirl_falling down to the ground in a rush of giggles? Patsy Clairmont takes that feeling and weaves stories, thoughts, quotes, verses, questions and faith into remembering to spin and enjoy life. Each short chapter addresses thoughts to ponder (dance, fragrance, bubbles, bloom, wings) and inspirations to guide you to grins. She reminds us that we are never too old, too tired, too poor, too busy to appreciate what is really important.
A PENNY FOR MY THOUGHTS:
From the adorable cover to the chuckles contained within, I really enjoyed this book. Everyone gets stuck in a rut sometimes or sits on the pitty-pot, but well-known author and speaker, Patsy Clairmont, has a whimsical way of helping overcome those feelings. From the simple items and activities in life, she constructs positive thoughts all while twirling through life. Truly an inspiration, this book would be a wonderful gift to share with almost anyone or even as a Bible study. I loved the twirl concept, colorful cover and included pinwheel silhouettes at each chapter.

CallieAge: 18-24Gender: female3 Stars Out Of 5Not crazy about itApril 21, 2014CallieAge: 18-24Gender: femaleQuality: 4Value: 3Meets Expectations: 2Twirl by Patsy Clairmont is basically a collection of thoughts on life from the author, specifically how to keep life meaningful and peaceful amidst the "twirl" of the everyday grind.
To be honest, this book just wasn't my style. Each chapter is it's own entity, kind of like individual blog posts - which I don't usually mind, but I felt like the subjects weren't really connected to each other at all, which is what confused me. While I occasionally caught glimpses of the main theme of "twirling" and how that impacts different areas of our lives, I had a hard time picking out a solid point in this book, and even in most of the chapters. The Type-A side of my personality likes a clear point, which I felt was lacking in this book. I just need clearer purposes or points in my non-fiction.
However, I will say that I liked the general concept of the book, and I liked that each chapter was short and focused on a narrow theme - those kind of books are perfect for a brief re-focus as you read chapters throughout the day. I think more poetically-minded, artsy people would probably get more out of this book than I did.
Also, she made a reference to "Christian mystics" which confused me though (she said it like it was a good thing?), so if anyone knows what that is, I'd love it if you'd enlighten me.
I wouldn't necessarily recommend this book, but I'm sure there are some people who would understand/appreciate it more than I did.
Note: I received this book for free from Booklook in exchange for this review. This is my honest opinion.
debsMaineAge: 35-44Gender: female5 Stars Out Of 5Twirl ~ Patsy ClairmontApril 1, 2014debsMaineAge: 35-44Gender: femaleQuality: 5Value: 5Meets Expectations: 4I love Patsy and the way she makes you laugh and smile. She is a member of the women of faith and a great inspirational speaker and writer. This book is a great book to read all the way through, read daily as a devotional or a every now and then pick a subject and read. Each chapter covers a different subject such as laugh, cover, sorrow, rest, dance and many more of how GOD uses our everyday feelings to his advantage. Study or thinking questions (as I call them) are at the end of each chapter.
I really like this book as a great read for many different reasons and is all about GOD inspired on a daily basis. Patsy uses her usual wisdom and makes you laugh out loud. I recommend this book for women of any age, a good gift book and a book that can be used for a women's bible study class or book club read.
